Ports don't take that long, especially when they have PC/360 counterparts. PS4/XB1 are both not that tricky to port to, hence the ports of The Last of Us and Tomb Raider being done in less than a year. Chances are, they could have a studio get all three done in about a year and they could be out in summer 2015 before an autumn 2015 ME:Next release.

1. You dont know that those ports took less than a year, although your reasoning is correct (ease of porting) and in all likelihood they did take less than a year. TLOU I just have a feeling, a feeling, that Sony always planned a PS4 port, based on hype and scheduling, as well as being a 1st party AAA new IP. If BioShock Infinite e.g. was a 360 exclusive you can bet if would have been released on Xbox One a year later.

2. To those suggesting too long of a time between the original released and remastered release kills hype/anticipation - most rereleases come out long, long after their original release. Zone of the Enders? Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Halo Anniversary, etc. Tons of Mario stuff

1. development of the PS4 version of TLOU was started as soon as production of the PS3 version finished. So it took pretty much exactly a year. Couldn't find any info about TR (only that the PS4 and XB1 versions were done by two different studios) but I'd wager it was about the same.

2. True, but it would be pretty good timing, gaming- and marketing-wise, to release it in the months leading up to the release of ME:Next.

From what I understand about the Tomb Raider port is that they basically are just adding in the PC version of the game with the Lara upgrades that they are planning for the sequel. If that is all people were asking for I can't see a problem, but when I see people having a wish list of changes to the game that is when I start hoping they never re-release the games.

I already have full trilogy on PC - I don't need it on " next - generation " console hardware !

Good for you then. :)

But many here (including me) would like to replay the trilogy on new consoles. I'd be happy to see it on XBOX1.  Please, Bioware... Make It Happen!

Sort of. They did do a big update to Lara that isn't coming to PC, including reworked TressFX for hair, but they also touched up the supporting story characters visually,  added a few more particle effects, and tweaked the volumetric fog and weather. The biggest change is really that it is its first time in 1080p on consoles, but the other effects truly do add to it and make it worth the re-release.

That's why the thread is about consoles. ME1 could greatly benefit from stabilized framerate, new controls, PC-quality or higher textures and tweaks, better audio, and 1080p with all DLC. It would be absolutely great.

Not to sound a jerk but would prefer BW to focus on new games for the next generation. I would prefer fresh ME content over a port to the new consoles. I generally tend to value more content than graphic but I guess if they have the spare time and money...why not..still I believe their main focus should be new content for the IP.

For those who don't know, ports are done by teams that specialize in doing them generally. Not regular development studios as a replacement for their creative projects.

It would be done by a secondary studio or studios that EA would choose to outsource to with likely just some support from BioWare, or if it is done by a BioWare team, it would not be a full size studio effort and would certainly just involve a group that would focus on it who are not deeply involved in ME:Next while porting. It is, after all, a technical process, more than a new title.

This wouldn't be a problem for the main studios, as they likely wouldn't be very involved.

Would I buy the next installment of Mass Effect? Hell yeah I would.

In fact, I'd buy every Mass Effect game if it turns out to be a trilogy.

The thread is actually about the potential for buying the original trilogy if it is indeed being ported to PS4 and Xbox One with certain improvements in performance, mainly 1080p, higher texture resolutions, and better framerate stability.

Ah well, I'd still give the same answer. I wouldn't mind playing through the original trilogy on next gen.

I want the ME trilogy with ALL DLC re-released. I want to see it run at 1080p, 60 fps on PS4. Lets go Bioware!

This pretty much, it would be really good if people who have poor internet connection can get physical copies of the DLC so they have a chance to play it but unfortunately most additional content is done as DLC (which I don't mind if its done right) these days.

The DLC is the reason why I want a true ultimate edition to be released. I don't have any DLC, and the current trilogy pack on Xbox 360 is basically the same thing I already own (all three games, no extra content). The PS3 version has some for ME2 but none for ME3.

Personally, I don't mind DLC as long as it's eventually released on-disc. It's only frustrating for games like the ME trilogy that have several story and character-focused DLCs, most of which are still online-exclusive.

I would consider buying this if it meant they fixed the framerate issues from ME1. Just once I'd like to play through the industrial outpost on Therum without it becoming a slide show at the end.

Does this happen on PC for you?  That sounds like a major pain in the ass.

One of the problems I keep having (on the 360) is the confrontation between Morinth and Samara in Morinth's apartment.  When they are facing off and going full biotic on each other the sound cuts out.  Everytime.

I even went out and bought a new copy of ME2 and it was fine for a while, but then it cut out again!

I also encounter that sound problem with Morinth/Samara every time I get to that part.

If BW could make a Trilogy one, using even models in each title on the remake/remaster (I mean, high quality models, ME3 on every game and fixed combat on ME1 and all that stuff) plus all DLCs included: Yes: A out loud "Shut up and take my money".

I can't see major changes happening to any of the games for a re-release, it would simply be handed to a third party developer that specializes in ports and they would then just make sure the content works on the new platforms.

Yeah. Ports usually leave the original intact and are intended to get more out of the existing graphical assets. I want what they will realistically be releasing, which is a graphically improved trilogy. Creating new assets and changing game mechanics is just so uncommon that I don't think it is realistic. Not sure why some people are expecting those kinds of changes, as that takes a lot more dedicated creative people since it makes it more than a technical effort.

Pretty much, though they might be a couple of minor changes.

I wouldn't suggest it to people if it didn't have all DLC (it is 2014 .. :S).

But other than that, I hope this is legit!
