I think he meant that he liked to be cloaked for a longer period of time every now and then, thus the heavier the weapon the longer before he can use cloak again. It is true that weight doesn't matter if you follow the approach to cloak and shoot/power but whenever you go a few seconds (or the whole duration) under cloak it can severely affect how often it can be used.

Thats why the harrier is a gun that "fits all". We can use it on anything in this game(maybe except on the juggy lol!). But then to each his own.

If good ol' Fridays isn't doing the job for you on plat, consider going back down to gold. Harrier is massively powerful but you can't treat it like a typical full-auto assault rifle and spray ammo all over the place. When you're managing your reserves there is no easier kit to play.

Play however you want, I'm not going to tell you otherwise but what Clyde was trying to tell you was that if you actively break cloak (shoot or cast OL, do a revive or whatever..) you will get a shorter CD than the one displayed. It will be roughly 4 sec from action taken, 1 sec for TC to break and CD to start with a 3 sec CD regardless of weapon weight/load-out (even if recharge speed displays as -200). However if you let TC run it's duration you'll get the entire CD as displayed. Playing infiltrators you'll always want to cloak before casting powers because of this mechanic and the damage boost.

I need to check tonight, but I think it won't break if you are already shooting. For high mag weapons, one clip will last through several cloak cycles, so you'll be activating the cloak with the trigger down already. So cooldown would make a difference here. Anyone know off the top of their head?

Huh? If I'm interpreting right then I may have your answer. When using PPR GI there's enough time to cloak a second time mid-mag and cloak is again immediately broken with minimal cooldown.

This is a glitch/bug/whatever with the Striker (and maybe some other gun). Like Mofo   mentions above cloak will break with weapons like PPR and Typhoon.

TGI is totally valid on Platinum. I think Redjohn said 'with a good player, any kit is viable on platinum'

Have no idea how the no cloak-break Striker works as it is a glitch/bug. If it applied all TC damage boost for the entire bonus duration and this could rival Harrier, Typhoon, PPR, Platinum would be infested with TGI Strikers........ which is not the case.

OP, just run AP ammo and take Hurricane w/ Ext Mag and Heatsink as your secondary.

 

Otherwise I guess you could go with the infinite ammo guns, but I don't care for them.  Or go Typhoon.

You have to learn various routes to take in each map to constantly cycle the ammo boxes.  Use your thermal clips, and learn to kill faster so you don't need as much. Make sure you're using Chain Overload spec'd to level 4 (opt out of level 6 of Fitness - you don't need it).  Use Incendiary Rounds (heavy barrel mod for your Harrier).  For shielded enemies, cloak, overload, and start firing.  For armored bosses, use a stim pack (spec it for damage over shields), then start firing.  Once the enemy catches fire, immediately cloak and overload to create a fire explosion, then resume firing.  Make sure you have all passives spec'd for damage as well as Tac. Cloak spec'd for full damage. I kill platinum Brutes and Ravagers in one Harrier clip this way.

He's a damage beast - Carry Warfighter Package and keep stimming and cycling through ammo boxes and don't be afraid to use your thermal clips.  After awhile, hitting ammo boxes becomes so ingrained that the low ammo on the gun is no longer problem.  

And 2nd sidearm isn't really needed but an Acolyte or Tempest (both with lightweight mod) can't hurt.

I once ran the GI with the Avenger on Platinum and that actually worked fine, and one time I had used a reset powers on my GI but forgot to put any points into my build so there I was on Platinum with a lvl 0 GI and the Harrier X. Still didn't have any problem killing things or any problem surviving while getting ammo. If I would try the same today when I've been away from the game for a long time it would probably be a lot harder.

 

So sadly I believe that, as many before me have already pointed out, you should probably play a bit more Gold before running around on Platinum if you have trouble killing things and staying alive with the TGI Harrier.

Default key is 8 on PC, but try to visit ammo boxes as frequently as possible. Otherwise I recommend trying the Lancer.
