I think that since DA:I is supposed to be the last of the series, then all the characters, that have survived, from the previous games, books, movies, and mini-series should return one final time. They don't have to be companions, they can just make a small cameo appearance. To give these characters a chance to take a final bow. It does not just have to be past companions either, but also some of the NPC characters too. Whether we loved them, or hate them, they were fun to interact with and I think it would be epic. Then fans would not have to worry about whether or not their favorite character will appear in the next game, because they will be there.

I think in one of the gameinformer interviews i heard Mike liadaw (sp) say that they currently have a 5 game plan for dragon age. DA was never planed as a trilogy unlike mass effect.

Yes, they have a 5-game plan for now and will possibly go beyond that.

No. Bioware doesn't need to cater to every single fan. If a character doesn't have a reasonably believable reason for being in the game then that character shouldn't be in the game.

I look forward to playing Dragon Age XIV, honestly.  They could easily go into a second century.  Just because the modern Chantry hates doubles, doesn't mean that they couldn't change their mind in the future.  Plus, the technology we'll have in DAXIV... will be insane.

This.  Story first, then returning characters.  I'd love to see Isabella and the Hawke Sibling make a return, myself.

Having every npc make a come back can make the world we are playing in feel very small...I vote for more new people please

To all those people saying that there's going to be five games its actually a common mistake as although Mike Laidlaw said that there would be five, he then said later:

I have no idea what I was talking about there, frankly. There's no plan for a specific, limited number of DA games. Oh, we totally do have an arc planned for DA, but if I said it was five games, I must have misspoke. More ongoing.

Thank God for Bioware not pigeonholing themselves into another "trilogy" idea like ME. Dragon Age and Mass Effect make for great persistent settings/worlds. Not one specific storyline.

Maybe when they're on their 7th game people will be calling for the return of everyone from previous games.
