Here in the US the military has JROTC programs at High Schools and Civil Air Patrol cadet programs on many military bases. I was in AFJROTC in high school and enjoyed it. I did exciting activities like rappelling and learning about land navigation at AFJROTC Summer Leadership School. Do you think the Alliance has something similar to JROTC? Do you think a Commander Shepard who was a spacer would have participated in something like JROTC? Bioware is in Canada but Canada has a similar military program for youth called cadets.

Maybe not since Alliance is not a government as such but something thatu nifies the governments of Earth into a single entity for the business of space. So in all probability there might be a program such as this but I would say it would be more limited than the similar programs of the various governments. After all no one said anything about abolition of armed forces of the governments of earth.

What is this 'Canada'?

You mean North American Union?

And Shep was trained in Brazilish, I think Rio? (that's right, he has connection to Earth no matter what).

Okay.. in terms of something like 'JROTC', maybe. Earthborn definitely not. Colonist nah. But yes, Spacer might have tried something. On the other hand, he wasn't very terrestrial until later on, I gathered.

It is possible, though as Swoby pointed out neither the United States or Canada exists as a seperate nation in the MEU. They've combined along with Mexico to form a superstate known as the United North American States.

Whoops, got my conspiracy theories mixed up.
