Has it been confirmed anywhere that if you choose to go after Cerberus or not in ME has any effect on how the story plays out in ME2?

I'm wondering if it'll just be one comment along the lines of, "oh...yeah I remember you did those two missions and killed a few of my men.....anyways...moving on..."

I'd like to know how well Martin Sheen (Cerberus' Illusive Man) takes to you if you decided to give the Shadow Broker those Cerberus files...

I think some dev mentioned this...that this might be brought up in the course of the initial dialogue (I mean, almost every sidequest had some ties to Cerberus), but that it'll be a "We know you killed 1/4 of our troops and foiled so many of our plans, but we need you now, so we will just give you a pass on all that other stuff."

I would also like to know this, as I'm on another playthrough just to get my savegame for ME2 and want to know if I should give the files to Cerberus or not - or wether or not I should even HELP Admiral Kohoku.

I'm pretty sure Bioware isn't going to make this a big deal; if you skip all the missions that may ****** Cerberus off, you'll be losing out on a lot of the back-story and experience. There's literally 10+ sidequests which have cerberus behind them in some way....if this effects Mass Effect 2 in some adverse way (the Illusive man says, "Since you did sidequests to hurt us, we're going to give you less money and less experience, and you have to pay to use the SR2!"), it will dissapoint a lot of people.

In ME1 I never gave them anything and wiped everything out that smelled like Cerberus. And I don't have any saved game in which I left them alone.

I hope the game allows me that I can bring them down at the end of the game. My player characters consider them to be threat to the galaxy in the long run. Exterminate!

If it's brushed aside it'll be quite clear that BioWare didn't exactly think this plotline through.

I agree.  Also, it seems strange that my Paragon Vanguard (War Hero/Spacer) would even WORK for Cerberus - now it seems that Cerberus are the real humanitarians..... Hmmm, always wondered who financed the Terra Firma Party.

While I hope to get some feedback as to wether I did the Cerberus quests or not, I think it'd be rather time consuming for BioWare to give them much attention. Besides, to me it seems that Cerberus pretty much needs Shepard for what's to come, even if s/he did wipe out alot of their stuff.

TIM always struck me as one who sees the bigger picture, and I do hope he'll have some means of controling Shepard (otherwise my Shep will look for the first opportunity to put a slug or five between his eyes), and who's to tell we did nothing but scratch the surface of Cerberus in ME1?

I'd like to see it given the attention it deserves, but I doubt it'll be done.

I've been thinking about this. It would seem to me that wiping out Cerberus in ME1 actually HELPED Cerberus. Let me explain...

Cerberus in ME1 were primarily focused (as far as I can tell) on developing the ultimate soldier. They worked on a few projects, but toxin resistance was high on their list to be sure. To Cerberus, Shep was the ultimate test of their soldiers' combat effectiveness... or lack thereof. To the R&D department Shep must have been a godsend, and for an organisation more concerned with the end rather than the means to that end, that's all that counts. In this light it really shouldn't be an issue in ME2.

I thought it would be less about TIM bringing it up as a couple of you have said, and more about what Shepard would say. "Hang on, you're the guy who runs Cerberus? Gun, gun, my kingdom for a gun!"

The Illusive Man sees the Big Picture. He acts on the Big Picture.

I'm interested to see any reaction from Cerberus members in regards to my character slaughtering all their dudes and wrecking all their cool science stuff in ME1

Some people are bound to be angry though:

Cerberus Goon: "You killed Homer, man!"

I'm glad ME2 finally goes into detail about Cerberus, in the first one I just assumed they were a Faceless evil corporation up to no good in the galaxy. I mean they had Rak'ni for pete's sake.

Now at least we know 2 things, 1. They are out to save humanity, and 2. They are headed by the Illusive Man

Working for Cerberus is one of the things that is really hard for me to wrap my head around. But we will see.

According to gameplay videos of ME2, the game assumes that Shepard did the Cerberus side missions (YouTube user FlamingGnats is using a "naked run.")

I'm sure it's an uneasy alliance, shep wouldn't work voluntarily for terrorists and rogue scientists like cerb

I think TIM puts Miranda in place to insure Shep does'nt go off the reservation.

I'm assuming Cerberus own the Icarus Project as well, and maybe Shep doen't wanna look a gift-horse in the mouth.

I think the plot in ME2 will be meant for Sheppard to have a "history" in ME1 so to speak. If you think about the "supposed to be bad but turn good guy" and "old enemy makes new friends" plot are pretty normal.

Plus even if it's bad history, in a situation where result is the only thing matter I think it makes more sense for both parties know ahead of time how resourceful each other is even if it was found out the hard way instead of just randomly come together for a mutual benefit. Maybe by kicking Cerberus's ass in ME Sheppard proved that he's the man for the job, and at the same time Sheppard knew the extend of power of this organization to consider them a potential ally of the Specter.
