I might add that players know how to position themselves on Hydra.
They do? Because I still see most people camping the LZ, including people who have clearly been at this game a while. It's so odd.

Oh no nothing wrong with that, and I'll bet the other members of your squad are spread out appropriately. I mean I still see games where all three players other than myself try to hold the LZ facing towards the little room and down the ramp that's right there. They basically just stay in place once we all spawn in. But the spot you're talking about, around the corner a wee bit from the LZ, works pretty well if the other players spread themselves the right way (I can think of a couple of different methods that would work well with your sniping spot).

The LZ are on hydra is a magnificient sniping spot and players can do an insane amount of damage from there. If people go there and I'm not a sniper, then I cover the rear spawns for them.
On the other hand when I'm a sniper? Hardly anyone covers the area and most just herp di derp down in the killing fields.
Apparently I'm just too nice. *lol*
Spawn Etiquette ..?? I usually say "Top of the morning to ya laddie! How are we doing this fine day?" as i am taking out my cobra.....

Man we must run into wildly different people in our pugs. On Hydra I usually see everyone stay clumped at the LZ facing the same direction you're pointed when you spawn in. No one ever moves around to the side a little to hang by the ammo box. No one ever tries to watch the spawn in the back hallway (I usually try to grab that one if everyone clumps on the LZ) or the spawns over to the right past the little tower room. They do all just run around down in the pit a lot once they come off the LZ, though. So we've got that in common.
Usually I don't care. I just try to predict where the enemy will spawn. OFC those pugs (aka the 5th enemy faction) , that are rushing spawns on Glacier, Rio, White & Hydra while I'm playing a grenade class should be eaten.

So much this, especially Glacier. Pls let's make the basement a place of burial for the bodies over and over again.
Hydra LZ is a terrible location to park.
Dependent on team. It's good, if the team covers the rear, because it lets you cover 3 enemy spawns. In that case it's the spot that can net you between 150-190k points in a gold match.
Not so pretty if the team doesn't cover... There we wiped at wave 4. ![]()

Well to be more specific. I meant 2 guys loosely around the low wall just left of the LZ (from the starting spawn viewing angle) and then 2 guys suppressing the other rear spawn.
It's good, if the team covers the rear
Exactly why it's terrible.
Sure... Why have the entire team shooting directly into enemy spawns and take little to no fire, when you can risk getting overrun or run around like a headless chicken.
I do not think about it but I naturally set myself so I can rush toward the spawn points. After playing the game for so long, it just becomes a routine.
Though sometimes I do like to place myself from my usual spots to make the enemy spawn at different locations. I need more chaos in my games.
I start in the same position of each map at the beginning of each wave no matter what. I play squishier characters, so prefer controlling the flow of enemies, leaving less opportunity for getting pinched. If I am leveling up, I may be looking to spawn nuke at specific locations for more experience. In general, I believe it is a better strategy to have a centrallized location to hold down, although you may have to leave it if things get hairy. If I have a teamate(s) who start in a inferior location, I generally expect to clutch at some point.
Right we should instead play with 100% confidence that every person who plays this game has intimate knowledge of spawn mechanics and locations and will always always have our back.
lol, whatever
FYI if someone's hiding at a back corner just to block rear spawns, "the entire team" is not "shooting directly into enemy spawns".
Would make for some nice games though right?
I didn't say hiding. I said covering a spawn or an obvious approach from a spawn.
Which is infinitely better than running forward blindly and forcing spawns away and thus forcing teammates to either shoot at nothing (to suppress the spawn) or risk enemies spawning behind other unprepared teammates.
FB white is classic example, with people running down the stairs (forcing a spawn behind) the guys on the balcony thingy).
FB Hydra with people at the furthest lowest spawns (which are easily covered from above) and again forcing a spawn behind.
FB glacier is the same even though everybody runs around like idiots there.
FB giant can easily be held on gold either at the LZ side or opposite side. FB Rio would be as easy as the box of shame with ranged fighters back at the LZ side spawns and a jugg at the middle.
All the maps can be made rather easy with a good placement of the team (excluding objectives).
...
I wouldn't mind the run and gun so much if people used the voice to say... "I want to try to run the spawns... lets go left" or "you guys go right" or something like that, but they never do... So they run in 2 or maybe even 3 directions.
PS: It just leads to so damn many unnecessary player downings. From surprise spawns and the attempts to save people who went down in the absolutely worst place of the map.
PPS: A funny observation. Newbies aren't the worst at this, but usually they're quite apprehensive of running away from the team.
It's usually the supposedly more experienced players.
PPPS: And yes... I do stupid crap in games that get me or other people killed too all the time, so far from perfect. ![]()

I play more strategically with friends but with pugs I just wing and try to adapt to the current situation.
where do you STAND?
Usually in front of a praetorian which just respawned behind me making NO SOUND AT ALL because some 1337 pr0 sn1p3r decided that a spawn point 40m ahead is terribly dangerous and HAD TO BE NUKED, while the other players just roamed cluelessly across the map blocking the others.
True story, and yes, when I say that a Praetorian was "behind me" I meant I was on the opposite side of its claws.
/rant
But in normal circumstances I just adapt to the situation, albeit I like to stand close to the weakest of my teammates to cover him/her...those revive medals won't increase by themselves!

I think the praetorian is the most f**** up enemies in the MP. Buttlazor, invincibility cloak, magnet "no warning before" sync- kill grab, and they sneak around, like Garret in the Bafford Manor looking for loot.
Played a game last night where everyone ran to the LZ on Hydra as the extraction wave started. I went to the left of extraction but not quite into the hallway with the ammo box. I was able to block two spawns that way and keep most of the enemies coming from the low area and bunker so they wouldn't flank the team. From my vantage point I could also kill anyone coming through the other high pathway in the middle of the map, and I could take potshots at enemies passing through the bunker. The other three were able to focus their fire in the direction they wanted to without getting flanked. Was actually a fairly smooth extraction considering they ran to the LZ right away.
I play with PUGs so we just run around like chickens with our heads cut off.
Blah blah blah.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Whatever man.
Ladies and gents and there you have it...
The argument for not using good positioning.
Well I'm sold by the intelligent reasoning.
