So, anyone think we'll see any Fex in Inquisition? I know they're from Par Vollen, but still.

On another note, do you think it's too sudden/late to add a new species? I mean, in the first game we met all species, and in the novels we "see" dwarves, humans, and elves. Comics and other things we see most of the four species we learned of, and now all of a sudden we have the Fex? Personally, I think it's kind of too late, though I no doubt think BioWare will be able to pull it off if they decide to do it.

While it would be a nice surprise, yeah... it seems unlikely for DAI.

Has it even been revealed what they look like?

I'm ging with 'no', particularly because the game seems to take place mostly in the southern part of Thedas.

Is it too late to introduce newer  species though? Definitively not. Personally, if we'll ever see the Fex, I'm guessing it will be when we're up high in the northern mainland or just going to Par Vollen (which I'm not so sure about, maybe in an expansion to a base game). They'll be able to pull it off, so I've got no question about that.

It becomes a different matter, however, if they were to give us the Fex in a way that would make us feel they're a pretty big part of Thedas, to a point at which we start to wonder why we haven't seen this species before.

Other than vaguely humanoid, no.

Speculation has ranged from a real life human ethnicity such as Asian to a group of giant, sentient nugs. None more (or less) valid than the next.

I bet the Fex are just a pygmy version of the qunari.

I bet that the Fex are an offhand reference by David Gaider that he probably regrets making now.

That's what I was thinking, but then again, Qunari are from Par Vollen, but we still see them. There are dwarves who live on the surface. Why can't there be Fex in Orlais?

Well, we don't know whether or not they are the right species to come to the mainland or not. Maybe they have grown incredibly attached to the Par Vollen climate and even dependent on it.

The quarians of Thedas.

For example.

Or it could be BioWarejust doesn't really know what it wants with the Fex and only shows them when they think they can and it adds to the lore enough.

BTW, for whatever reason, it seems a lot of fans have coalesced over the idea they are cat people.

That said, I have no idea whatsoever what evidence that is based on.

And yeah, it is a pretty unoriginal concept for fantasy races, if so.

When the Qunari were first hinted at during DAO's early development (when they were known only as Themor, The Mysterious Other Race), the community seemed fairly convinced they were lizardmen.

So the community isn't good at these sorts of predictions.

The last thing this game needs is a bunch of Argonians and Khajiit running around. -__-

Fex is the singular form of feces in Latin. Perhaps they are a race of sentient turds.

I don't think we will ever encounter them.

I feel like the Fex might end up being a race of humanoid birds that Shale has recently wiped out.

As whatever remains of their people live on Par Vollen, and we don't seem to be going there, I don't think we will be seeing them in DAI, that's for sure.

This might not be so bad of a moment for a "...and they all died", so they won't end up like those bird people in mass effect

While I'm not sure about this game, due to the storyline given, I don't have any doubt they could pull off different species in any future installments.

I mean there's plenty of far off areas that are more unknown to us.

If not, we could always send Shale to Turvess and introduce her to the Raloi.

I just find it odd that we would have never heard of them before. "You never asked" is a response that can only be used so many times before it gets stale. Not to mention that the inclusion of new species kind of feels... invasive, if that makes any sense.

I figured the Fex were somewhat monkey-like or possibly a bit like the qunari just tinier

This fanart does it a little justice in making it more interesting...

Well the way I see it, since we're in a medieval era and contact with outside areas is hard to come by or slow at the very least.

Things aren't always known and exploring is the way things happen in these current times.

No idea, so I'm just going to throw something out there. A peace loving race that looks like lord Voldemort without ears,

I'm not sure if we'll see the Fex, but I wouldn't rule anything out.  As for unknown races, there's a lot of Thedas that we don't know about.
