I might just be imaging it, but I thought that the original comment about them was saying that they've been completely integrated into the Qun and their roles have them rarely leave Par Vollen.

When the Qunari were first hinted at during DAO's early development (when they were known only as Themor, The Mysterious Other Race), the community seemed fairly convinced they were lizardmen.

So the community isn't good at these sorts of predictions.

IIRC that was because a community member saw an early concept of them as lizardmen (or with tails at least) rather than idle speculation?

I think the Fex idea was dropped.

They are supposed to live near Par Vollen I think ?

It's possible they will appear but I doubt we'll met one in Inquisition.

If we ever go up north , why not .I mean there's supposed to be only humans and mostly Qunari.

For the sake of diversity , they might be added.

As far as I know, this is the only information that has been released on the Fex, from a 2010 PAX interview with David Gaider.

In this video (seems to be broken) from PAX Prime in 2010, starting at 6:15 David answers a question about sentient races in Thedas (transcribed for convenience)...

Question: Are there more sentient races in the Dragon Age universe than the ones we know about?

Answer: Uh yes! Yes, there are. For instance, there is a race that was native to Par Vollen when the Qunari arrived that we have not shown yet. They're called the Fex, F-E-X, and uh, you don't see them outside of Par Vollen very much. But yeah, there definitely are, and maybe there's even some beyond Thedas [mischievous look]!

When I see the word fex I think of the Tyranid carnifex from 40k, meaning "maker of carnage".

I though the Fex were a running joke.

That's what many people thought about the Pandaren in a certain other game series ... until they were made existent, and the center of an expansion.  ;)

Never understood why Bioware bought them up right before DA2 launched, but then never showed them, or even told us "what" they were?! It would be nice to see one in this game, or even have one as a companion.

BTW, for whatever reason, it seems a lot of fans have coalesced over the idea they are cat people.

That said, I have no idea whatsoever what evidence that is based on.

And yeah, it is a pretty unoriginal concept for fantasy races, if so.

To be fair, neither are elves and dwarves.

Would make sense if they are a Lizardmen, living in the jungles of the north. Kind of like primitive Lizardlings in D&D.

For some reason, I can't help to imagine them as fox-like people everytime I hear the name.

They could be like the Dran from the Witcher.

A nearly extinct race that's shrouded in vague hyperbole and myth more so then fact.
