Who do I think it is? I am not sure... Who do I hope it is? Garrus. It would be incredible BIZARRE if BioWare gave FemShep an LI that was *not* a squadmate.

What if Joker is the Kelly Chambers equivalent? Then it wouldn't be weird at all.

That would be more than fine and welcome.  However, since Kelly Chambers is *not* an official LI (as confirmed via the Casey Hudson Best Buy chat), then that would mean Joker equivalent would not be an official LI either.  They'd be 'flings'/pseudo-romances.  And thus, still leaves open the third slot.

What if Garrus was the Kelly equivalent? Seems odd, since one is a squaddy and one is not, but it wouldn't be surprising. The malien romance role is filled by Thane, Garrus's anatomy makes an actual heavy romance nigh impossible, and Casey and the devs can still say they appeased the Garrus fans.

That doesn't mean a specific asari wouldn't limit herself. It actually makes logical sense for an asari to be sexually attracted primarily to are solely to either another asari or a female human due to the obvious nature of asari.

That sounds more like wishful thinking to me.  If the Asari are known to prefer "mating" (and I use that word loosely) with others species rather than their own, how does that make "logical sense?"

Is it possible?  Sure, but not likely from what we know about their culture..  It would be as Spaghetti Ninja mentioned, a plot hole.

You just said yourself it is possible. That completely demolishes the chance that it'd be a plothole.

The asari are sexual beings. There are no male asari. There's no reason not to assume that some asari are only attracted to their own species or simply the feminine form.

It might be a "stigma" in their culture, like homosexuality is a "stigma", but a homosexual human is not a "plot hole".

Since when was there a "malien romance role?" Why should we have just one option? And why in the world would they give Thane a full-fledged romance and resign Garrus to something like Kelly? It's extremely unlikely. Garrus romance, however, is as likely as anything. They've even altered his body model to fill him out, probably in an attempt to make him look more humanish in frame.

And, yeah, we wouldn't be appeased.

Well, to be fair, Bioware even said that. It's in one of the videos, I believe part 2 or 3 in that Sci vs Fi episode.

I'm not denying the possibility.  I only said that I *hope* it is Garrus, and that having a non-squaddy LI is highly improbable.

I have no real expectations.

I read that while having dinner. Cleaning the floor now. ;)

I think you're putting too much emphasis on the specific wording. You don't know what Kelly's role is, so how do you know if you'd be "appeased" or not or whether or not it's "extremely unlikely"?

Casey specifically said that Thane and the drell were designed to be the desirable male alien species. That implies Garrus might not be appropriate for what they see as a malien romance. Don't get offended.

I faintly remember that, but with all of the other information we've been getting, there's a very strong chance that said malien romance role will be filled by Thane and Garrus.

Eh. I just don't see why everyone's so set on going THANE IS AN ALIEN. HAVE HIM AND BE CONTENT.

Because everything's about settling for less. Oh yeah.

Casey pretty much confirmed that Kelly's "romance" isn't one of the core love interests.

And yes, I know they designed the drell to be "attractive to females," but after Casey mentioning Garrus along the same lines as Tali more than once - especially in a recent podcast, which, honestly, made it extremely clear to me that he'll be included - I'm holding out for the possibility. The drell could've been created as a bridge. Not all girls want a human guy, but they don't all want a turian, either.

And I'm not offended. I'm just sayin'.

You should be good. Casey said that characters that weren't romance options in ME1 are in M2. That means more than one and only two squad mates from ME1 return as squad mates in ME2 and therefore give you a real chance to romance them: Tali and Garrus. And let's not forget that Garrus is a popular with the female gamers as Tali is with the males.

I think that's more of a nickname due to reputation rather than an actual name.

Personally I don't see much of a reason for them to include two male aliens for femsheps. Not to say they won't, but I don't see it.

Of course, I want a Samara romance. I want a F/F romance, and we have a TON of information suggesting Samara is romanceable. With that in mind, and keeping to what Casey said about there being 3 LI's, I personally think Samara is more likely than Garrus by a long shot.

Maybe we'll get 4 romances. Maybe 7 out of 10 squadmates will be romanceable and everyone will be happy, but, with what's been said in mind, I see Samara over Garrus.

This board may be very vocal about a Garrus romance, but who's to say that the vast majority of female players out there would prefer him? I think BioWare should consider that not everyone likes the alien romances and they can't just stick two male aliens for females while Sheploo over there gets two human LIs.

Bit of a slippery slope though. Since some people prefer alien romances, and femshep may get two compared to mansheps one.

The only solution? Samara is the fourth, bisexual romance swooping in to save the frikkin day. Not everyone likes Tali, and her being the only alien love option for mansheps is hardly "compelling".

Not trying to be contrary, but that is speculation based on him pluralizing a single word. In the BestBuy Q+A he pluralized a lot of words, and if we took them all literally then we have confirmation of 4 romances for femshep already.

We really do have more evidence supporting Samara than Garrus, all told.

Really? More evidence supporting Samara than Garrus? I wouldn't be so quick to say that. Yeah, you guys have an article, but wasn't that in another language? I'm not keeping up to date on the Samara situation, since there's just so much stuff coming in about Garrus~

Well anything is possible, but I think it would be a radical departure from what we know about the Asari, and how they've been portrayed in the game insofar.

The asari are sexual beings. There are no male asari. There's no reason not to assume that some asari are only attracted to their own species or simply the feminine form.

While I disagree that the Asari are sexual beings (they are much closer to Asexual), the assumption that some Asari are only attracted to their own species/or the feminine humanoid form, must be balanced against the FACT that culturally, the Asari generally prefer other species/forms other than their own.

Thats the problem..  If the Asari were normal like other sentient races and preferred mating with their own species, then this wouldn't be an issue.......but they don't.

It might be a "stigma" in their culture, like homosexuality is a "stigma", but a homosexual human is not a "plot hole".

Anything is possible, but I think it's unlikely that Bioware will go in this direction.
