Helped him escape, and took the opportunity to get rid of his own phylactery while he was at it. (I did tell Irving about the plot at first, just to see what would happen, but then reloaded the save and went the other way.) The Jowan relationship was always a weird one in my head; I accepted the game telling me that they were friends, but I was never really sure why. Certainly the blood mage thing soured the whole deal, though; my Warden was not down with that crap.
