I hope in a world with a mage/templar war, a demonic invasion, and presumably other faction-based conflicts that were will be SIGNIFICANTLY less giant spiders in this game than there have been in previous titles, especially DA2. Seriously, whoever decided to add the "drop down from the ceiling right in front of the camera and loudly hiss" spiders is FAR more evil than any maleficar or darkspawn! >_<

Can we say less trash mobs in general? Though spiders were the worse, it was like they were the go to mob when the lazy level designers couldn't think of meaningful ways to pad out the game.

Also, I tried finding that concept art where the inquisitor and 3 companions stare at what looks like a spider/human hybrid, but I really can't find it, sorry!

 

EDIT: Found it! I was a bit wrong about the inquisitor and 3 companions (it's only Vivienne and Cassandra I think), but here it is!

I expect giant spiders in a fantasy game and have generally managed to move on from screaming, to a wry "Spiders? Why did it have to be spiders."

The monstrous/queen spiders in DA2 however...just no.

BioWare am I a representative from AGAGSIG (Arachnophobic Gamers Against Giant Spiders In Games) we have come with a beg of mercy to limit or possibly remove giant spiders in your game. Please pick on some other phobias because frankly they don't get enough attention.

I've heard some gamers legitimately have a hard time fighting giant spiders in games due to anxiety and arachnophobia. That would suck; I've killed legions of spiders in various RPGs.
