This is the worst thread that has every been created. Spiders are political ploy to stop the working man from going outside his house.
Combining threads: Giant Spider Mounts plz.
There was a silhouette in the Bioware studio that looks like a dude riding a scorpion. Is that enough?

Isn't the fact that giant spiders are scary, evil-looking, and generally hated kind of the whole point to using them though?
I mean if you found yourself in a deep dark underground cave and found yourself suddenly surrounded by cute and fuzzy bunnies, it probably wouldn't have the same atmosphere.

Giant spiders are kind of a staple in fantasy. So I'm pretty sure they will make a return. Just be ready for them, anytime you enter a cave. ![]()
If there is one thing i hate about RPGs in general it's the damn spiders. ALWAYS with the spiders. Crawling through a crypt in skyrim and open a door? A giant freakin spider saying hello. No spiders. No radscorpions. No bugs AT ALL if I had my way.
Every time I play a game I have to build my characters around killing BUGS from long range in one shot. Help me out please. ![]()
And yes I'm scared of just about every bug on earth. Kill them all.
I can just about stomach the pony-sized spiders.
But those house-sized ones.... bleurgh! There were only maybe three in DA2, but they always appeared by surprise, and the only way I got through those fights was by taking a ranged character as far from the fight as possible and spamming ranged attacks. If the melee crowd were KO'd, well. Usually the game got reloaded.
Having a massive hissing spider fill up my whole TV screen is just so unpleasant.
As long as there are no giant snakes I be happy
man I'm not even trying to look through this post cause I know yall are gonna post pictures of those things and I'm not about to have an anxiety attack.
ANYWAY! OP, I agree 800000% and I hope for this too.
Well in the codex it is speculated, that giant spiders come to existance when magic from the fade leaks through a thin veil. So with the veil tearing apart there would logically be more giant spiders in Thedas than ever before. Sorry to dissapoint you OP.
Furthermore spiders work so well as fantasy monsters, simply because they look very alien and intimidating (to most persons.) Just make it unproportonally huge and you already have a terrifining monster without having to invest much creativity into designing a completely new monster. Thats why giant spiders are so common in video games.

Also ^this.
I don't get why people are so terrified about a bunch of pixels. It's not going to hurt you.
I don't think you would understand unless you had severe arachnophobia. Like, I'm just going to speak for myself here:
I have a really severe case of it, to the point that I have night terrors and wake up screaming because I see them in my dreams sometimes. For me, it's linked to anxiety and other things, so seeing them just scares me. I can't help it. I know they're not going to hurt me but the actual look just scares me. Do you think I, and anyone else afraid, logically do not know that they're not going to come crawling out of the TV screen? Because I promise you, we do lol.
No. Your phobia is not a valid reason to change a game.
We need more spiders

We need more spiders
Technically not a spider, though they are an arachnid.
What is an cRPG without the standards giants rats and giant spiders? Maybe a horde of rats like in Willard. Why they are the start of every good cRPG.
When I first saw them while in Saudia Arabia, I called them spiders as did all the other soldiers that I served with. Later I learned when I got home I found out they were Camel Spiders, though not a spider, but a form of arachnid. The camel spider is of the Solifugae order, which is Latin for “those who flee from the sun.”
Anyways, I just want more and bigger spiders in the next game.
So long as they are fat and fluffy: it's fine.
But like really thin with HUUUUUUUGE THIN LEGS?
NOPE. PLEASE NOPE.
Besides, even if you DON'T have arachnophobia, these WILL scare the **** out of you.
I don't mind em'. Spiders are one of my favorite animals, actually. I'd like to see more creative uses of the spiders than what we've seen before, though. Maybe like the Spider Queen from Okami or Quelaag from Dark Souls. The abridged answer is if they try a different flavor of the creepy crawlies, I'll give a thumbs up for it.
I'm starting to think the devs enjoy this, sitting at their desks twirling their evil moustaches.
I can't deny their mischievious and dastardly nature.
If you're working on something of the scary variety, may as well boost it up to 11.
And just think....As graphics improve the rpg developers will keep up with the giant spiders...
I can stomach the ones in games right now. But if it gets worse, I guess that means no more rpgs for me.

I went through this whole thread -really- slowly and carefully because I was just SURE one of you jerks was going to post that one video of the mass of spiders that was all over facebook a month ago. Glad nobody did. lol.
