All of this spider-fear makes me feel extremely brave. It's good for my masculinity.
Giant spiders - less of them this time?

Eh, video game spiders don't bother me. They never look real or threatening enough to me to make me scared.
But to all those who posted pictures of real, big spiders in this thread: Screw you. Sideways. With a screwdriver.
I don't even have arachnophobia (in fact, I'm the one around here who has to kill all these suckers), but now I feel sick. ![]()

See, this is where a modding toolkit becomes absolutely vital. So the arachnophobes can replace all the spiders with giant ravenous squirrels, and the arachnophiles can replace their Mabari with a spider the size of a ride-on mower.
ETA; the scuttlebutt thread has a post with all the released screens of DAI so far, including this (trigger warning: bloody great spider)

I'd love to mod so that all the spiders become like the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. Soft and fluffy, yet deadly.

That looks more like a Harvester, IMO.

As my name and signature suggest, spiders and arthropods in general don't scare me. I do find centipedes rather prehistoric and a bit frightening though.

Or Peacock spiders. Who could stay mad at this face?
(trigger warning, the most adorable spider in Australia wants to give you a big hug!!)

Harversters have a different mouth-setup, like this, and they are less vertical (for want of a better word).:
Could be related, I guess. But it looked plenty arachnoid to me.

Oh, I was thinking of the flesh-golem form. You know, Phase One of the Golems of Amgarrak fight, or the battle against Orsino at the end of DA2.

Looks more like an Arcane Horror and a very big spider shared a Very Special Hug to me ... I guess we'll see.

From illithid and beholders to giant spiders. Even arcane horrors are just a boring, reskinned, easy to kill enemy with the same boring methods as the other caster models instead of being something intimidating like a lich. I love that Bioware is still giving us story driven RPGs in this day and age but so much more could be done with the combat. Still miles ahead of CDProjekt Red and Bethesda combat though, at least mages in DA:O still had a good variety of spells, and we still have party driven combat.

More likely it can handle rough terrain better.

They need to have something like the Pit of Horrors in King Kong...
I even closed my eyes for a few seconds during that part, it was glorious. If any section of a cave or the deep roads can make me do that, I'll be very pleased
