And yet another reason why pre-ordering a game is unnecessary:

‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Retailer Exclusives Will Be Available With Season Pass… Eventually

“Throughout the 6 months of additional Batman: Arkham Knight content, Premium and Season Pass owners will receive all in-game content that is offered through various retail pre-order incentives. This includes the Harley Quinn and Red Hood Story Packs, as well as any Batmobile or Booster Pack that was available as early bonuses for pre-order of the game. For those who did not receive the content with their game, these items will become available when their respective exclusivity windows expire in August/September.”

“The tl;dr version of this is: Premium Edition & Season Pass owners will receive all retail exclusive DLC after their respective early access periods expire.”

Their pre-order retailer "exlusive" BS and season pass nonsense had the opposite effect of what they had intended on me. It has actually caused me to skip the game until they release a game of the year edition for it. I'm not going to plop down $100 + tax and still not have everything that's coded into the game.

If no such edition of the game pops up in a year or so, it is still no big loss because I'll be able to buy the game used off of Ebay for around $20 and can then buy the $40 season pass and get the Retailer "Exclusives". Basically, they are going to make less money off of me than they would have if they hadn't tried to pull such nonsense.

I've gotten pretty fed up with the pre-order bonuses and exclusivity over the years, because I and others that don't pre-order are still going out and supporting the company and game by paying the exact same price.

Yeah, I figured I would wait for a GOTY Edition as well.

Yeah, it sucks for those who pre-ordered this months ago.

I personally stopped buying CE's a long time :P

I stopped getting CE's when the only bonus to getting them was a silly statue.

I don't even care for the preorder bonus. I just decided to get it out of the way, while I made another order.

I'm mostly gonna just stick with the main story anyways. So I don't a bunch of DLC or GOTY edition. Never bothered doing everything in the past games either.

Now that they announced that. I'm kinda think that I should just pre-order the game over the xbox store and save $10 on the season pass. As I don't care much about red hood so I could wait for that.

I'm reading the GameSpot review since it's the one that gives AK the worst rating so far (7/10). I'll leave you the bullet points.

The Good:
  • Soaring above Gotham is a consistent treat
  • Smart crime-solving sequences
  • Lots of mission variety
  • Imaginative stealth and combat encounters
  • Impressive audiovisual details
The Bad:
  • Forced use of the Batmobile puts a damper on fun and freedom
  • Ham-fisted dialogue and predictable reveals damage the story
  • Monotonous encounters and mediocre boss fights hurt the second half

I like the crime-solving bit. Hopefully this time Batman will be the Detective we all know him to be.

can we please stop preordering? it feeds the practice of shipping broken content.

Looks like Rocksteady never learned from their mistakes from each game (regarding the bad things).

Shame.

I only pre-order games that I know I'm going to buy anyway (e.g.: Witcher 3) and even then I do so a few days in advance so I have ample time (and information) to change my mind.

its funny, Batman essentially has the same powers that Superman does.

X-ray vision

Flight

Inhanced strength (Canon he can bench 1600lbs)

superhearing (with NSA-type spying tools)

Money is the best superpower.

I'm so not a fan of railroaded Batmobile sections. Using the Batmobile should be a choice not an imposition.

The storytelling gymnastics the game performs to remind you that Bruce Wayne is not a murderer are ridiculous. The Batmobile is using nonlethal rounds, you are told, and when you run over criminals, a little zap lets you know that you're not squishing them under your tires, just giving them an electrical jolt as you pass. I could dismiss this mounting nonsense easily as forgivable video game logic if the narrative didn't devote so much time explaining (and re-explaining, and re-re-explaining) that Batman lives by a non-killing code. Rocksteady tries to have it both ways, representing this code as an emotional conflict that figures heavily into the story, then letting you plow through crowds of bad guys without consequence.

Lol.

The review I watched (From a site I trust alot) said the main downside with Arkham Knight is that the story is a bit weak.

I'm not really surprised with that revelation. Arkham City didn't have a great story either.

But I'll see how I feel about it myself :)

Arkham Knight is loaded with villains, actually, including the one that gives the game its name: Arkham Knight himself. His identity is meant to be the game's greatest mystery, but conspicuous foreshadowing, and a reliance on age-old storytelling cliches, make every reveal as surprising as the time The Mighty Ducks won that big hockey game. There are some tense story beats and moving events, but your two primary goals--to stop Scarecrow's evil toxin plot, and to confront and unmask the Arkham Knight--are too predictable to be compelling.

You had one job, Rocksteady!

Hopefully, it's not as bad as that, right? :(

Oh, and f*** not being able to preload 50 GB on Steam!

By the way, none of the reviews currently available are of the PC version. All reviews codes are for the PS4 version.

Wasn't the Knight's identity to be a completely original character though?

It's possible they said that to throw people off. If GameSpot's review is anything to go by, it's either someone you meet in the game early on and immediately label as Bad Guy Number 1 or it's an already-established Batman villain.
