Canada.
Canada.
I feel sorry for you.
(I have way too many Australian/Canadian friends that complain about the internet).
Did they really remove it from Steam? Wow that is just insane. Never seen an AAA game beeing withdrawn. Guess i'll have to wait a while to play it :/ meh.

Trust me. Its for the best.
I gotta say, the writing is absolutely atrocious in this game, but the presentation and the mechanical aspects Rock steady used for some of the most intended strong moments of the plot are quite impressive.
It's one of those games where if the story was amazing it would all come together, but since it's so underwhelming all the most striking scenes fall flat on their face and the cutscenes just end up feeling like they make the game drag on for too long.
EDIT: Scarecrow has a good performance acting wise but his dialogue is just a bunch of ominous lines of fluff. Nothing he says is memorable.
It's a batman game. The others weren't exactly great in the writing department either.

Writing never really stood out to me before either. It's not like Scarecrow stood out before. I mean, it was Scarecrow, so it was cool enough.. and the level designs were fun. But it's not stellar writing.
They're just (pulpy) Batman games. I don't expect a lot in this respect. That'd be icing on the cake, I guess.

Seriously though, how could such a poor PC port even be released? Seems like Rocksteady hired the same testing staff as Obsidian and Bethesda.

They completely ruined a boss fight that was otherwise decent in a previous game.

Well the dialogue/stories was never really that great in any of the Arkham games. I'd say the only part where the dialogue was noteworthy would be the interview tapes that you could collect throughout Asylum/City (I don't recall if Origins had them).
So I take it Scarecrow got the "big bad" treatment that Joker ended up having in all of the previous games, where he goes on and on about his master plan, threatens his henchmen, taunts Batman all while Batman's kicking ass and saving the day. Well that's disappointing.

This is quite true. I'll never understand why people held the dialogue of the previous games on a pedestal, it was never really noteworthy.
This vid, omg. Poor Joe.
I tried Arkham Asylum, it was all right but I was never the biggest Batman fan.
This one seems like it's better though, don't know if that means I should get it. Basically my understanding is at least you get to play with Catwoman and do some fun driving with the Batmobile, among other things.
Plus I'm not really sure what else is there is to really play these days such an uninspiring slate.
Glad im playing it on X1 after hearing how bad the pc version is. Only thing that disappointed me was the Deathstroke tank boss fight it is crap his fight in origins was much better.
I disagree, Dini's writing for Batman and The Joker (as a character) were much stronger than it is in this game. The interview tapes were among my favorites in regards to the strength of the writing itself, whereas the main story in say City wasn't quite strong as anything else about the game. But how Batman and his rogues gallery are portrayed is strong.
I do love the Killing Joke callbacks in this game and of course
this mans rage is the reason why my heating bills are so low during the winter. Mmmyess joe, roast them alive.

I remember too many Joker lines from Arkham City though. He was the heart and soul of those first two games and it was clear to me how big the influence of Paul Dini was. I knew coming into this that the lack of Dini would probably mean worse writing but I had at least hoped for a replacement on the level of Origins-quality. Origins did kinda feel meh at the end of the day, but it had some really good writing here and there, only lacking in punchlines and some kind of charm the Dini scripts had. Arkham Knight has this tendency to keep yapping. All the "funny characters" keep talking and talking constantly trying to sound smart and snappy but none of their lines really feel memorable to me. (It's because half of the time these smart and snappy lines are really just all kinds of stupid. It shows the writer isn't very smart too much)
You guys who know some spoilers, you know which character I'm talking about in particular!

I'll agree that the Interview tapes were pretty good.
Otherwise, I mostly was just entertained strictly on performances.

Yeah, people keep saying that, but I'm talking about the dialogue in particular, not the plot, and I thought City was very good in that regard whereas this is just... really dreadful throughout too many parts.
