Ok, so it seems the old Cassandra thread from the Scuttlebutt was moved to the DA2 forum in the shuffle up. Now, I don't know how it works, if maybe the fan threads have to be in what game the character debuted in. But if not, here's a new thread for now DA:I companion Cassandra. Sure we don't know much about her, but here's to dreaming of what we want and learning what is. :)

2lmrp0i.gif Ok, threads open, everyone come on in. Haha.

I like her!

Liked her in Dragon Age 2, liked her in Dawn of the Seeker, so see no reason I won't like her in Dragon Ag: Inquisition.

I may or may not like her. Although I've never met a companion I passionately disliked (the closest is Carver sometimes), so it'll probably work out.

I love what we've seen of her so far. She's a straight up badass. Unless we get other familiar faces as companions, she and Varric will be in my team on my first playthrough for sure!

Looking forward to her. More than Varric even. Gameplay wise, I imagine she'll fill the same role as Aveline (tank.. so I'll probably play with her quite a bit), but I expect better combat mechanics as well.

I'm not very happy with Cassandra, really disliked her in the movie, but am going to reserve judgement and see what they've done with her in DA:I

She will be given the benefit of the doubt until she opens her mouth about mages.

We'll see, at first I wasn't a big fan of Leliana but she grew on me, maybe Cassandra will be the same.

or she may be like like Cassandra from Homeric Mythology whom I loathe

While I like Cassandra's DA look well enough, I kinda wish she wound up a little closer to this concept art.

And considering her position (and all her achievements), it'll be interesting to see how she ends up taking orders from us.

Personally on the Dawn of the Seeker front, I liked the film well enough, but I can understand how some may not. But really with that, one thing you gotta remember, that took place 18 years before this game, so she's more then likely a completely different person by now.

I Like Cassandra, really hope that she is a Love Interest for the Inquisitor.

Also I'm looking forward to seeing how she'll interact with the other companion.

What?

I just don't like playing guy characters if I don't have to, no harm in that. But I'd still like to romance who I want.

Same, didn't want to play as a girl when I wanted to romance Alistair in DA:O, and sadly, Sebastian didn't feel like a romance, it felt like being stared at by someone who has a crush on you and doesn't really act on it, and no, I could care less if I couldn't plow him either way.

I don't feel like opening this can of worms tonight

let it suffice to say that characters should not exist to serve at the whims of the PC, they should be made independently of the PC and have their own beliefs and preferences that cannot be changed, it adds to their believability and makes them seem more real to me.

They should not be reduced to a check on a list of fan demands, ie I want to be a female elf warden who saved the anvil and romanced Morrigan, because I like Morrigan.

The glory of alternate universes to exist in the same game.

Does that mean we should get a universe where Anders didn't blow up the Chantry?  Or one where the Cullen died in the Ferelden Circle?

Agreed. Plus, dealing with specific companion traits gives me new reasons to play. Replay value is a good thing. One playthrough I can be a mage friendly human male with specific story options, and then another a dwarf female with a nasty attitude or something. And these should bar me from opening up certain friendships. In the end though, I could find either fun.

Set plot points are different than romance plots. I'd say a comparison would be like how Player A can save the Anvil, yet Player B destroy the Anvil. Or Player A befriends this NPC while Player B makes an enemy out of them.

And thus her bisexuality may be one of those traits.

So, I really like Cassandra's design in Inquisition and all. But her new uniform makes her seem much slimmer than before, especially since the only heavy parts of it are the pauldrons, though its funny that she's got little heart designs on them.

So its ok to only change a character's sexuality between universes and nothing else, because that is not the same as changing other things about the character in different universes?

Yet, sexuality is not a simple on/off switch, a person's sexuality is part of their identity and if you change that you change other things about them as well.

I'm not talking about bisexuality, if she is an obviously bisexual character ala Isabela or Leliana I would have no issues whatsoever

I'm talking about playersexuality

i said I wouldn't open the can, but I did it, I opened the can
