So since we are going to have multiple universes with characters having different traits in each one, why even bother making characters at all?  Why not just have a bunch of tranquil companions?

I'm not worried about it "affecting my game", its the trend I find troubling, players shouldn't feel entitled to romances with their favorite characters.

Ex.  I like traynor, but I don't want her to be romance-able by anyone and everyone in alternate universes, I want a character in my universe who is consistent.  Should my FemShep and her match up all power to them, I have no issues with that, but I don't want an alternate universe where Traynor is a lesbian with the exception of Shepard, it seems like sloppy writing and pandering

So you're saying you'd be fine with only one female LI with the other female being completely gay? I don't know why anyone would want to reduce the options they get. Unless something about you makes you feel entitled to more options than other people.

Anyway, Cassandra seems pretty awesome. I look forward to her being teased by Varric.

Same, didn't want to play as a girl when I wanted to romance Alistair in DA:O, and sadly, Sebastian didn't feel like a romance, it felt like being stared at by someone who has a crush on you and doesn't really act on it, and no, I could care less if I couldn't plow him either way.

Still bitter I couldn't hook up with Alibear.

It was ok though. Romancing Morrigan made more sense to me anyways. I loved her character too.

Not into an overabundance of playersexual npcs. It tends to kill immersion and the entire experience becomes some sort of bizarre player worshipping power fantasy. Companions that turn you down and even the addition of failed romances(saying or doing the wrong thing) is welcomed.

Yes.

I'll take Sten or "Morrigan disapproves" over player worship any day. ^_^

You had to worry about Sten disapproving? With the right conversation choices, his approval will shoot up faster than anyone's; you barely even need gifts.

Morrigan's not all that difficult either, as long as there are a few story decisions you don't take her to.

I know how to get their approval. I just like to roleplay a specific perspective and let the chips fall where they may. It just so happens that those two had very specific perspectives that didn't jive as easily with others.

Whatever. You know what I mean. They are basically memes at this point.

But if you don't use her and still enter a building without this immersion-breaking gate smashing, doesn't that mean that you could just as well not use it and get the same result, regardless of whether or not she's in your party? Maybe I'm missing the logic here, but this could go one of two ways: an occasional gate-smashing is mandatory to complete a quest, in which case your immersion is doomed to be broken, or it's like me complaining that I can turn Wynne into a blood mage, in which case I simply can opt out of unlocking that talent.

My hope is that the gate smashing was for effect and, if it is in the game, it would only be after several tasks that weakened the gate sufficiently.

As long as there's something consistent in their background for it, I think stuff like that is cool. It made sense to me for Leliana and Zevran, who were adventurous and worldly. While Morrigan was different (hell, she wasn't much for relationships or friends to begin with, let alone romance).

Bisexuality does. There's an openness and anything goes type of attitude with it. That isn't just genetics or orientiation, but a general attitude.

What. I'm bisexual and I'm definitely not an "adventurous" or "anything goes" type. Please, don't speak for everyone.

You're more adventurous than me then. And homosexuals as well.

Be grateful I didn't just call bisexuals "greedy". Adventurous is nice.

There's nothing inherently adventurous about either in and of themselves.

Considering that I don't sleep with anything that moves and that I'm monogamous, I really don't see how am I "adventurous" or "greedy". You don't know me, so don't make assumptions, please.

You guys are reading too much into the word "adventurous". I didn't mean you were some pornstar gallavanting across the globe shagging everyone you could. I meant a degree of openness. More in the psychological sense, not just sexual sense.

Have you ever taken the "Big Five" test? There's a scale called "Openness" on there. Check it out.. lots of free tests floating around. That's basically the definition I was going for.

If you don't qualify even for that though, fair enough. Maybe you're generally not very open.

The personality mosaic isn't bad either.

...You do understand that that ability is warrior-related, not Cassandra specific, right?

Any warriors with the shield bash skill can do that, even the Inquisitor.

What they can't do is use the warhorn ability (a taunt) which is Cassandra specific. It also suggest that she has a Dragon Hunter "specialization" (DA2 companions specialization type). Probably mixed with some Seeker stuff, because she also use a Inquisition/Seeker themed banner ability in the PAX video. It looks like the one shown in a concept art early in this thread.

That's kickass. I'm going to love having her around as a tank. I liked the dynamic between a 2h warrior Hawke and Aveline, but Cass seems way cooler.

Seconded. That gate breaking is so outer space talent that I'm starting to have second quesses about the game overall.

Didn't they say that the gate smashing was just a pre-alpha thing and that in the actual game the scene will play differently? Or am I imagining it?
