do dwarves, elves, and qunari have races?
Or are they all just, short white people, sharp angled eared white people, and steroid abusing horned white people, respectively

are there chinese dwarves. and is there ever any racism for the other species? Come to think of it I don't think I've even seen any humans being racist in dragon age hey? And they're totally cool with homosexual relations and women in power too. Truly such a pc age they live in. Should be called PC age instead of dragon age
Racism in Thedas is directed to other races (humans to elf, for example) and not to people of the same race but with different skin colour.are there chinese dwarves. and is there ever any racism for the other species? Well, no, since China isn't a place that exists in Thedas. There aren't any Australian or Latvian or Brazillian dwarves, either.
There certainly might be dwarves with physical features that we'd associate with being from Asia. I don't know if it would be reasonable to call them 'Asian' dwarves, though, since there isn't an Asia any more than there's a Europe or an Africa.

It's really possible Kal'Sharok dwarves speak in other dwarven language and maybe have different, not orzammarish-like skin colour. We just don't know much about 'em.

What does PC means in this context?
wait are elves just a different race of humans? Are they ****** sapiens?
Ok wait I think there might be slight racism with ferelden and orlesian peoples toward each other. But I guess that's just a cultural thing and they'd be tots cool with a black king as long as they're born there

Never seen any humans being racist in Dragon Age are you sure? In Dragon Age people are racist towards people of literally other races such as Dwarves and Elves (which you do see) or against people from societies they see has lesser than their own like the Chasind ( which again; you do see)
Dragon Age doesn't seem to suffer from the traditional IRL racism but it has its own version of it.
I also don't see why people being cool with Homosexual relationships or women in power makes everyone in Dragon Age Politically correct (PC) - there is nothing wrong with either of these things and the people that we've come across in Thedas don't have a religion or political leader that says there is.
There is racism amongst humans. like the Chasind beeing viewed as babarians by the modern Fereldens. there is also quite a lot of nationalism, speciesism and the strict caste system of the dwarfs, so Thedas is hardly a perfect little PC world.

See that's the thing, asia has so many ethnic groups the term shouldn't be considered a race. That's why I had to say chinese. Cause I mean what else would I call it like saying white or black instead of european or african.
So where do black "not african" people come from in dragon age

From their parents.
What kind of question is that?

I guess, but I mainly only notice the speciesism and cultural clashes and maybe religious? They're extremely tolerant all things considered
I mean we're specisist as heck, we eat most things that aren't human, or enslave them if they're too cute to eat.
and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke would NEVER BE MADE IN THEDAS
Rivain
are black dwarves from rivian too
are black dwarves from rivian too
hmm
hmm
Dark-skinned Dwarves likely come from another old kingdom that eventually merged with Orzammar, or possibly from surface dwarves returning to the stone. Though the second explanation is much more unlikely.
I like this thread...i always question about the term "race" being used to actually different humanoid beings in DA...dwarves and elves are humanoid but they are not human, still the term "race" being used
And it is as if dwarves and elves have no races within them, as if they are one race of each
How you doing Qistina? Still raising hell on tha forums?
And it's like you read my mind.

At first I was a bit skeptical of this thread, thinking that it was possibly trolling, but as it's continued it's gotten interesting. It really does seem like both dwarves and elves are homogenous, I'd quite like to see racial lines possible explored within these races.

I'm not sure I understand this. What things are we considering? Most racism, sexism, homophobia comes from the sociological and religious pressures. An IRL example would be that people justified slavery because a certain holy book said it was ok and society told them that black people weren't real people not like white people were real people.
Thedas doesn't seem to have had these sorts of sociological and religious pressures and as such never had any reason to hate or dislike people of a different skin colour, sexual orientation etc. In their holy book Andraste freed the slaves.
In Thedas the sociological and religious pressures have been against people of different races, people of different cultures, blood magic etc so that is what you see people in Thedas being against.
English is a bit confusing in this...example, do we consider ourselves as human race or human being?
If we consider ourselves as human race, are there any other "race" named differently? I mean in real life not in the game. So i say "we are human race" as if there is other race named differently
If we say "we are human being" of course there are other beings not called "human"
The only way to really articulate this is to say that we are the human species, white, black, whatever. All people of the human origin are part of the human species. If we say human race, yet also use the term race to describe other humans... Then this whole thing gets really, really muddy.

Dwarves barely exist.. they got nearly wiped out and only have one city. Why would their racial diversity matter? It's enough that they survive at all.
Elves are, arguably, worse off.

Exactly. I feel like this is a major thing that contributes to th way the cultures of Thedas have developed. In this world they have had to deal with frequent incursions of Darkspawn, all species being wiped to near extinction, and more. In this world the religion is more based around providing hope and explanation where there is none.
In our world many of our religions try to teach that one is better than the other, in Thedas the Chantry is more based off of trying to comfort and protect.
However, the Chantry also has a few nasty quirks, similar to the real world. In Thedas the most obvious examples of racism amongst the populations due to religion are the treatment of Mages.
