Do you see yourself doing another playthrough?

Not sure...really did like the game well enough... got a few good laughs out of the citadel add on but I'll probably leave it for a while. There were some other character interactions I did like...Joker making fun of Asari homeworld being destroyed comes to mind. Chose r option on that so femshep chews him out, only to have him respond that Anderson wanted him to look after shepard, and that was what he was trying to do. His response was surprisingly emotional. Some good writing there. But, ya...think I'll leave it for a bit.

OP : I understand your feeling. However, since EC, the "breath" ending - in addition with the scene where your LI refuses to put the name on the wall - would mean that Shep is alive, and a lot of story could be told on possible next adventures of our hero. Yes, for the moment, just use imagination...

On the other hand, if ME4 confirms that Shep is dead at the end of the game, whatever the endings chosen, Bioware would do a big (unforgiven ?) mistake....In French we call that "du gros foutage de gueule"^^

The breath ending meant Shepard's alive even before the EC.

About ME4, don't worry. It won't even mention Shepard's fate. I don't think it'll answer any of the questions left from the trilogy. That would be really awkward.

I seriously, seriously, doubt that.

Which? That Shepard is supposed to be alive, or that ME4 won't answer any questions from the trilogy?

Both. That ME 4 won't mention Shepard's fate. And that at least some questions from the trilogy won't be answered.

For me, I would not be surprised if there is no reference made to the trilogy at all in the next game.

I'm personally rooting for it to be a reboot.

Nooooooo... don't say that, you have to do pointless back and forth arguments for at least another page :(

Give me 10 Souvereigns and I'll think about it.

Any guess at what questions might be answered.

Assuming they canonize Shepard's survival, which I think is fairly likely, Shepard's fate.

The state of the galaxy following the relays blowing up.

The state of the geth and other AIs.

The 'Dark Energy' problem.

Ah good, unless I'm mistaken this is the first new ME3 ending thread since the move to the new forums. I was missing the same circular debates and raging I had grown so accustomed to.

heh

but for the OP, yeah we all know what you mean. I remember my first time beating the game, half drunk on whiskey, 3am and I'm croaking to myself in a little girl's voice 'how could they just leave me to die? after all we've been through?'

*sniff*

the feels...

still hurts

- Wow. Would be a pretty big bomb after they left it in the dark despite all the people asking for it.

- Kinda answered already, isn't it? We see everything rebuilt.

- Would also be already answered. If Shepard lives they are dead. In the other endings they seem to be at peace with organics.

- Is there a problem? I thought they completely dropped the whole dark energy plot.

How can they both canonize Shepard's survival and address the geth as anything more than gone?

Unless they... ahhh, I see. Completely negate the extinction gig. I could definitely see it.

I'd still pick Synthesis but /shrug. The thought has crossed my mind.

The first time I beat the game my first reaction was 'what no closure?' Five minutes later I started a new game plus

Completely dropping dark energy from ME3 doesn't mean it's gone from the next game. If it's set post-3 it's a strong springboard to utilize as at least a major subplot.

- Shepard's survival was almost certainly 'left in the dark' as a necessity of portraying Destroy as roughly equal to the other two choices. If Shepard had clearly survived, it would have been far too clear of a message that Destroy was the 'right' choice. If Destroy is canonized anyway, that's no longer a concern.

- Yes, obviously the galaxy is not going to be in a 'Dark Age' for all eternity. But there's still a range of questions concerned when and how. As of right now, we really don't have any clue as to the state of the galaxy in the years following the endings.

- Not at all. Even if all AIs are dead, they aren't going to stay that way. Mass Effect is not just going to abandon that element. So there's questions to be answered on their relationship with organics after the endings, how they're rebuilt if they're gone for good at all, their status as citizens, etc. I seriously doubt the geth are just going to be gone from the series for good.

- Maybe. Maybe not.

I certainly would have continued classifying Destroy as a bad ending if it continued to mean death (offscreen at that) for EDI and the geth. But from a design standpoint I... tensely see your point.

Uhh, it can happen. I'm playing DA2 for the first time right now.

Me too. It's a lot better than BSN chatter led me to believe.

I would not be overwhelmingly surprised if EDI returned for the next Mass Effect game.
