If they're in orbit they're not harvesting.
...? Reaper capital ships at Earth are in orbit and the harvest continues. The harvesting isn't done by the capital ships.

The capships themselves. Not their husks and whatnot.
I don't mind doing stuff. The problem is that the prevalence of people acting like fools but having positions of political power is unbelievable. There's always the odd idiot here and there, but as a rule, you don't get there if you're that stupid. Just watch the defense committee in ME3's prologue.
I've recently heard that Mac Walters really despises politics and politicians. I can only say that if true, it shows. Why else would he turn every person with poliicital power into a caricature? Not to mention that this is a rather simplistic mindset.
I try to forget about that first scene. Even Shepard does his fair share of holding the idiot ball. I mean I think the only thing they did while imprisoned was lift or get cosmetic surgery (for bro and fem Shep, respectively).

And mastered the Shattered Eezo cabinet in the mess hall. Jacob did not know what he was in for!
Yes to the OP. It really was a horrible ending. What's even worse is it was written by two people with no oversight when ME3 was almost completed. When they were called on it by the fans, they and Bioware denied anything was wrong. Only when the company's stock plunged and they received a lot of bad press did they decide to take action. The Extended Cut was the response and it's still insulting. It only added a fourth new ending and that was a giant middle finger to the fans. Despite all this, people are still interested in the series which shows how good it was overall.
If they only do an outline for the next trilogy, a lot of the problems with the first can be worked out. Also don't let Walters and Hudson touch the endings and you'll be good to go.
You know what would have vastly improved that scene? If the Defense Committee gathered, and the reapers attacked just before they got to speak.

Complete and absolute nonsense. Thinking something is "insulting" or that it was a "giant middle finger to the fans" is such insane, bizzare logic.
The level of entitlement needed to view a FREE DLC as something like that is just nuts.

I disagree but you are welcome to your opinion. I feel the DLC was required to fix problems and I would've gladly paid for something much better. I'm also not even remotely alone with my opinion on the 4th ending. Many renowned game reviewers have said as much and more if you care to look it up. Take care.

So the fact that it was a free DLC means that it's above criticism? Price and delivery method don't change quality or content.

That's a good idea. Could you link me a renowned game reviewer who considered the EC a "middle finger to the fans"? One that said it was "insulting"?
After you do that, could you explain how it's both of those things in a logical way?
I'll wait.

By the looks of it you didn't even read the post you quoted.

Well I found the ending itself to be insane, bizarre logic. So I guess that evens things out

Yeah it was free. Got what I paid for too,
Anything else to add, Robosexual?

So you think that two wrongs make a right? Or one wrong negates another?
Surely if that's the case, the first time you think somethings wrong, the very next wrong would immediately cancel it out? Therefore there would be no wrongs as they'd all just nullify each other.
Or was that just supposed to be a snappy comment that fell flat?

Probably.

Hey, the endings tell us two wrongs make a right, so why not?
Hey, the endings tell us two wrongs make a right, so why not?
Is that a yes?
Is that a yes?
It was sarcasm.
The endings are bizarre, illogical, and promote concepts that I find absolutely deplorable. Yet you seem to think that unless one is a renowned video game reviewer, we should simply take what we are given with no complaint. That we're too stupid to judge a game or its dlc "fix" with a critical eye. If Bioware says it's awesome, then it must be so.
Or were you trying to be clever? It's hard to tell, sometimes.
The endings were refreshing (for a game), logical, and portrayed different staples of the sci fi genre.
The original endings were a garbled, incoherent mess with very ugly ramifications which the writers were evidently completely oblivious to.
The Extended Cut endings are... acceptable. Good enough. They did the best they could with the mess they left themselves to straighten out, but some things (like the beam extraction) remain awkward.
Though issues remain with the final product, I don't find MEHEM (while technically impressive for a mod) to be a narrative improvement. A saccharine reunion doesn't make up for the other shortcomings.
I understand there's a "MEEM" out there which tries to give an alternate motive to the glowbrat?

Nah a video game reviewer makes no difference, I was just challenging him to back up his claim, hence the second question. I already know what the answer will be there.
Anyway I'm not even sure how to respond to the rest of your post there. I'd have to defend things I didn't even say. "Unless you're a renowned video game reviewer"? "Simply take what we are given with no complaint?" "Too stupid to judge a game or it's dlc fix with a critical eye"?
You pretended your first response was sarcasm and are now trying to get me to defend things I never said? Nice try.
not sure what 'ramifications' you're referring to, but I hated the original endings....so you won't ever see me defending them. The original endings were a garbled, incoherent mess with very ugly ramifications which the writers were evidently completely oblivious to.

Well, one of the first ones that comes to mind is Team Dextro starving to death on account of being permanently marooned on that planet...
Original endings (particularly the stargazer scene) strongly suggested that the old man and kid were descendants of the Normandy crew still stranded on that planet. Same moons, talk about "one day" being able to return to the stars... implications unpleasant.
don't sweat it. You'll find a fair amount of people here that will imaginatively twist your words with their own pessimistic viewpoints, ultimately making themselves look like they were the target of your post in some sort of way in which they feel they need to defend themselves.Nah a video game reviewer makes no difference, I was just challenging him to back up his claim, hence the second question. I've already posted about 'Team Dextro' and other inconsistencies with the original endings which appeared to be a lack of communication between the writers and the artists doing the scenes. I don't think they were oblivious to such ramifications. I don't think they meant to vaporize the galaxy or strand everybody in the Sol System or have your squadmates charge to your death or have all Dextros starve. Those things weren't intended to come off the way they did. Somewhere between the writers and the artists things got lost in translation, I'd imagine.Well, one of the first ones that comes to mind is Team Dextro starving to death on account of being permanently marooned on that planet...

And the Stargazer never changed. It's the same today as it was back then. (besides the Refuse one)
I agree, and that was what Casey said in later interviews (just before the EC's release). For a long time before that people were left hanging though, and speculation trended towards the very dark.
I guess the difference is that before the EC, the Stargazer scene (called something like 10000YearsLater in game files) wasn't accompanied by any indication that spaceflight (let alone the Normandy) was still a thing. Normandy always got swept up in the blast and was heavily damaged on the planet's surface. EC endings added the sequence where the Normandy outruns it, and then takes off again afterwards.
