Take the orbs away and Leviathan is nothing but a giant fish in deep water.

After the war is over I would go back to the planet, kill them, throw them on the grill and serve them up as appetizers for everyone.

I think we'd have to slice and pound them thin like abalone otherwise they'd probably be tough. http://allrecipes.co...tional-abalone/

Javik would approve.

I dunno if I'd want to eat the Leviathan. Maybe we can harvest them like whalers and use their fat for primitive oil lamps or something. Maybe we can dry up their flesh, grind it into a fine powder, compress it into pill form, then sell it to the batarians as an antidepressant to cope with the loss of Khar'shan.

The Leviathan have nothing but the orbs, their dominate ability and a very high grade swimming diploma.

Their strength only lies in their ability do dominate lesser races who'll build stuff for them (a.k.a. 'tribute').

Shepard is the only one who can break free from this ability. This also makes him immune to indoctrination ('you are an anomaly')

Any questions?

p.s. had the Leviathan been from a planet with no 'lesser races' to dominate, they'd never have ruled the galaxy, the Catalyst would never have been made, and no Reapers would exist.

Did shep break free from the leviathan or did they let him go?

And no one really knows what the Leviathan are capable of. Yes their mind-controlling abilities may be limited to using the artifacts, but there's nothing to suggest they will remain confined to Despoina 2181 after the reaper threat is removed. They're hiding now, but they may not always have to.

I suppose how quickly they'd be able to get out of Sigurd's Cradle depends on the outcome of the war. In a post-control or synthesis galaxy, the reapers would probably rebuild the relay network relatively quickly, but post-destroy, it's possible that the relay in this system is never repaired at all, since there's nothing of note to bother venturing out there to gain access to.

That's a very good possibility... but for all anyone knows the Leviathan could be a space-faring race in their own right. Maybe they'll repair their own relay. And there is also no telling the extent of their control of other species throughout the galaxy. Look how far away the tungsten mine was from them, or that planet we found Ann Bryson on. They may have the indirect influence to make sure their relay is repaired. Only one way to find out; bring on ME4.

As I recall, during the domination Shep breaks free from (a part of) the illusion once or twice. Not sure, it's been a while since I played Leviathian.

I thought that was just a way of showing that the whole thing was taking place in shep's mind, but you could be right. Leviathan did seem pretty confident when it told shep that he would remain there as a servant to their needs. That's when shep said, "Wait a minute. You need to fight the reapers and here's why..."
