it looks great but is the story good?

I guess we'll find that out in October^^ But really, I'm not concerned too much about whether the story is good. It's Bioware, they always have good writing (though they sometimes muck up the ending :P )

This and Mass Effect 4 are both system sellers for me, although as this is still at least for the moment going to be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 I may use it as the last hurrah of my console

The Next Mass Effect :D  don't hurt me.. just it's not 4.. because shep story is done :D this is a new saga.

The thread title is very misleading (and hope raising) when you see it long after March 5th :(

I am wary to say that i am looking forward to this game because i don't want to be let down again. I hope you lot impress this time around and don't royally let us down like you did with Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2. This is the last time i will put my faith in you so don't disappoint Bioware.

They know that this is their last chance. I believe that they will exceed our expectations with this because they know if they don't, it wont matter how cool Mass Effect 4(or whatever they call it) is they will have lost a lot if not all of their major fan base. I know it's hard to continue to have faith, but call me the eternal optimist, I think this will more than make up for DA:2. Hopefully. ;)

I really never will be able to understand why people were so disappointed in DA2. I mean I get that it wasn't what people were expecting, but it's not a bad game. *shrug*

I like the comparison that Bioware is like the Pixar of game companies: Even if their games are bad compared to other Bioware games, they're still better than most games.

I never had any problems with DA2 myself.  I never saw it as an "incomplete" or "rushed" game at all.  Compared to KotOR2, for example.

It was just a very bland game. It is not the worst game (cough Alien Colonial marines) by any means but my vision of a good Bioware game is one that has a amazing story, revolutionary new gaming concepts, exciting/engaging game play and real choice. Look back at the original Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age 1. They both bought something new and ground breaking to the table and that is why it left such a possitive impression on fans.

With DA2 and ME3 they comprimised on their "artistic integrity" (yeah i know they hate when people quote that) and rushed ahead producing mediocre games. Many people like to blame EA for this but i do feel Bioware could have acheived alot more in this time frame as past titles would attest to. The reason why i am putting my faith in them one last time and buying the Inquisitor edition is solely a vote of confidence in their past abilities to produce good, engaging titles.

I loved that game, but compared to KotOR2 nothing is "incomplete" or "rushed".

ME3 was an amazing game too.

I didn't think it was a bad game. Neither was ME3, as far as I'm concerned. And I have gotten the impression that most people who tried them without playing the previous games are overall more satisfied with them than long time fans. Which supports my hypothesis that DA2 and ME3 were hated by oh so many fans because of being part of an already established series.

Many felt, and I include myself here, that DA2 fell ridiculously short compared to its predecessor. And I guess that with ME3, being the final, epic chapter to one huge arc with a common protagonist and characters the players had gotten attached to, there were a lot of very high expectations going on. The game couldn't deal with that, the way it was made.

DA2 was definitely rushed. ME3 wasn't, technically. It had about the same production time ME2 (which was a big success) did, and probably much more resources invested on it. But I think ME3, being the final chapter to the trilogy and the one where the actual reaper invasion actually took place, required a little bit more than a middle entry that was mostly filler. Heck, probably a big part of the reason why ME2 was so well received is that no one expected that much from it, as opposed to what happened with DA2 and ME3.

Have to disagree on that though i accept your opinion. I am not going to go and say it was terribly bad but i felt the very vision that made the Mass Effect series great was compromised just so they could make a quick buck. That in itself is a horrible thing to do for any game developer who considers themself passionate about their creation. I am not going to lie and say that aspects of the game was not appealing like Leviathan for example. Always stick to your true vision and make us believe in it.

This is the essence of artistic integrity for me and both ME3 and DA 2 lacked that artistic spark that made them special. If one part of a book or art work is horrible then how can we be expected to enjoy the overall product. Bare in mind this thought has obviously crossed the mind of a large portion of fans or there would not have been such an uproar over them. People expected great things from such a talented company and they let them down.

first, I have to ask this: Is your avatar Nikola Tesla from Sanctuary?

Second, Bioware was passionate about their creation. You could tell when they stood by their decisions during the whole RetakeME3 thing.

One yes my avatar is Nicola tesla from Sanctuary he is the most appealing character in any series i have watched. Plus he is the most simlar to me irl. lol Two i really don't believe they were passionate about where the series was headed nor where it was destined to end. I think they knew it was capable of so much more and yet got lazy. So much hate and yet many still on the team stubbonly refuse to acknowledge fan concerns even to the point of deleting relevant posts and hiring people to attack and abuse fans. (Bare in mind this happened when ME3 was at its peak)

One prime example (i won't name names) is a certain "non Bioware employee" (that is what he says yet he works for Bioware oddly enough) that began calling people "children", "enititled", "whiners" and then went on to say "what problem only a small number of people have concerns" after massive fan base out cries. He then deleted his own posts and those of people who disagreed with him claiming "it was off topic" despite arguing himself and the thread being in "Mass Effect discussion". We both know his final statement is false because these issues are largely considered the reason the game face planted in the face of fans.

This ultimately resulted in large scale hatred, lack of acceptance in gaming circles and award snubs. The art work that was Mass effect was ruined in my eyes and that of countless fans and for what? A quick $$$? Don't mistake this post as being one that reflects my current opinion however. After having time to cool down i am starting to accept where they left it even though i truly do dislike it with a passion. lol

Thought so. I just wanted to make sure it was actually that character and not just the actor.  :D

As for the rest, differing opinions so let's agree to disagree, yes? :)

DA2 was not a bad game. Chapter 3 was disjointed in that you could help the nobles and mages but still have to fight them. Flesh golem only made sense to me if you were pro Templar. Silly looking darkspawn.

However I enjoyed the story and the mage animations were better than in DA:O

Side note: every time I fight a flesh golem I get a bad smell/taste in the back of my throat.
