In the theater, Avengers: TAoU. A bit of a disappointment, to be honest. With the amount of action scenes it had, I was pretty surprised that my primary emotion was boredom. Oh well. At least I got the ticket for free.
Back home however I finally gave in and watched Mean Girls after many recommendations and much peer pressure... and I ended up loving it. Tina Fey, how could I ever doubt you?
For a watered down remake of Heathers, Mean Girls is still good fun
and, oh my lord, actual good acting from Lindsay Lohan

Oh man I remember that one! So awesome.
Is it that movie where that cool thing happens in the place with that one character?

Oh that was fun. For once, a movie that delivers the cringes, chills, and scares without the blood and gore of slasher films! Mostly I just giggled at the ridiculously crazy happenings going on in that house. I'd almost call it a "family" horror film, except that... well... it is a horror film.
Also, all clowns, even the toy kind, are bad.

Is it worth seeing in theaters? I've been iffy on it. Horror remakes typically fall short for me.

Only if you're really into horror films (I enjoy them), since there's nothing terribly groundbreaking or original here.Is it worth seeing in theaters?

Well I liked the original. And I do enjoy horror, but I'm not a horror buff. Guess I'll just catch it on blu-ray.

I don't enjoy horror so I avoid them. Still can't remove the Silent Hill movie memories...

Lol those were bad horror movies. I prefer thrillers to horror. Especially nowadays since its mostly gore porn.

I rented this for tonight, I don't if it's worth recommending yet:
I loved it! It's pretty quirky and fun. One of my favorite Wes Anderson films for sure.

Okay, I waited 10 years to watch this film, and I finally sat down and sat through it.... WHERE TO BEGIN!!
1.) Never underestimate what a boat load of guys will do for one pretty woman, (I was going to mention her race but I think less I bring up about that the better, I mean giving the era, ugh.... so many about.. sigh nevermind.) Seriously though 17 people died to rescue one young pretty woman, oh and of course capture on film a Ape, then capture it.
2.) What does Ann do that makes Kong so devoted to her, as oppose to all the other sacrifices? and I mean before the off-broadway act. The answer really sets up a plethora of other issues/questions for me personally.
3.) Ann's Luck, seriously she has none. I mean she literally is a walking disaster area, you'd think her meeting Kong was a life changing good experience right, she gets fame and excitement, adventure, love, ect ect... but seriously look what shes really going through, unemployed entertainer, then gets doped into a crackpots movie scheme, marooned on a island with a 25 ft tall ape, and everything is trying to kill her while shes there. I mean a T-Rex already had a meal in his mouth, two in fact, and still started chasing this woman for what? She was definitely not as meat as his already being devoured prey.
4.) The fight between the 3 T-Rex's and Kong, might as well make Kong Jackie Chan's mentor, the ape had some pretty agile moves.
Yet over all a very movie picture, loved the date on the ice rink.

Oh god, that long? Damn time flies.
Well as far as the PJ film goes my interpretation is this: Ann is a struggling actress and "pretty face". In one of the biggest and yet loneliest cities in the world. No one ever pays any attention to her at her job because again, she's a "nice girl" but they're a dime a dozen in the world of acting. She doesn't have many or any family or friends. She's poor and practically homeless. She's lonely.
Kong is viewed as only a brute monster. He is given these sacrifices out of fear. Everyone on Skull Island either loathes or fears him. The sacrifices scream and try to run. He has been forced into this role of a monster, even when deep down he isn't. His kind either died off or was hunted and killed by the inhabitants or other creatures. He has no one. He's lonely.
Ann is the first person to see that Kong is a feeling being. Sensitive and capable of love. Kong realizes that and in some ways sees the sorrow that Ann feels too in a sense. They form a bond. A love, a friendship. Ann is the first "friend" Kong has. The first person that sees past the scary monster, and into the heart of a feeling creature. Kong is misunderstood, Ann is unnoticed. Yet they both can see each other for who they are.
TL;DR
Ann and Kong are two lost and lonely souls and create a friendship/love between the two. Kong has never had any compassion or understanding before and feels obligated out of his friendship to Ann to protect her.

I just realized Max, the hero, punched, knocked out, and then tied up a headstrong teenage girl. Somehow, I don't think that plot would survive today's sensibilities.
