Unless you are a complete D&D junky (I am), missing this won’t be a loss, but it would make a good Sunday afternoon filler if you’ve got nothing better to do and like popcorn and soda. Don’t forget the Jelly Babies. 6/10

Timothy Treadwell was an environmental activist who spent 13 summers in Katmai National Park, Alaska, living in close proximity with grizzly bears. He saw himself as a friend of the bears, frequently speaking of his love for the animals. His goal mission was to protect them from human encroachment (in spite of the fact that Katmai National Park is a federally protected National Preserve). In 2003, he and his girlfriend were killed and eaten by a 28 year-old grizzly bear. Treadwell recorded over 100 hours of film footage of his expeditions. That footage, and this man, are the subject of Werner Herzog's documentary film, Grizzly Man.
It's commonplace to observe that we have a need in our creative work to confront the darkest parts of ourselves, those parts of our nature that make us capable of terrible things. It's less commonly observed that we have a similar need to confront and understand the parts of ourselves that make us capable of massively idiotic things. In arranging Treadwell's footage together with interviews of family, friends, etc., as well as his own narration, Herzog challenges us to empathize with a man who, over the course of his final 13 summers, probably accomplished little to nothing of real value on behalf of his professed cause.
Herzog admires Treadwell as a filmmaker, and perhaps sees him as a kindred spirit. Yet he never loses sight of Treadwell's delusion; in all probability, the bears merely tolerated his presence around them, and that he managed to survive 13 summers may testify more to their patience than anything else. Herzog's view of nature is diametrically opposed to Treadwell's romanticism: Treadwell believed in a secret world of grizzly bears that he alone among humans could enter into, while Herzog sees only maddening indifference. His film is the most unsentimental nature documentary I've seen.

I just watched it the other day, 10/10 was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
This again, simply cause it is a really good movie.

I tried not to hype it off to my friends too much after watching it, so they'd get similar experience, but I had to admit that I wouldn't surprise if it'd be my favorite movie of 2015. Everyone so far has agreed with my opinion. ![]()
Just afraid they'll make a sequel that'll suck horribly.

Yeah and trying to get the rating lower would be horrible. "Hey we got this much money with R rating, how much would we get with a lower rating?". Oh well, it'll definitely be hard movie to make a sequel for, but some interesting casting choices and fresh plot would do wonders.

"Doubt"
Brilliantly acted adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's "parable" about a nun's crusade against a priest whose only crime is being well liked
Astounding performances by Meryl Streep, Amy Adams,Viola Davis and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman
Shanley's script collapses at the end (ironically because he adds to the play rather than subtracting)
not quite perfect, but excellent

I've watched it too. A 8/10 movie.
It didn't bash Nixon totally and showed some good aspects of Nixon too. I can give credit to that.

What an engaging piece of film. Everyone is great, Rockwell and Walken especially so. This film is a great balance of characterization and development as well as plot constancy. It's very tongue and cheek, but not too involved at the same time. There's also a bit of self awareness to the film as well but I chalk that up to

Mask of the Phantasm... and then some of the early Batman animated series.
I've never actually watched any of these before. They're pretty good.

Quite good.
I especially enjoyed Jason Statham's apparent sendup of all his previous "extreme" action movie characters.

Pretty formulaic horror thriller film with not too much gore, but still a fair amount of creepiness. As usual, most of the jolts are accompanied by over-loud sound effects (ex: a bell tinkles REALLY loudly). In fact, as soon as the bell was introduced, my first thought was, "that bell is going to tinkle really loudly at some point isn't it," so... yeah... also predictable. I'd give it a B.

Whiplash. JK Simmons has a departure from his typical role but does a great performance.
