I find that there is not a clean way to rate a Vin Diesel movie when comparing his to other stars, or for that matter anything he does. You either like him or you do not. I watch everything he is in and do have some that I prefer to others but I can find no rhyme or reason for it. At any rate I use a 3/3 scale because there is no reason to **** around with all those middle numbers in a 10/10 scale. 1 being good enough to watch, 2 being not only good enough to watch but too totally suspend any disbelief while you are watching and 3, for just about everything he has ever been in, because I have watched it before. I am particularly a Riddick fan.

I like this movie more than should have I think. It was a cool and interesting premise despite it's flaws. That said I recommend the Unrated and Uncut version to the theatrical release.
I recently re-watched this documentary. If you have any interest in music in general I highly recommend it.

It is a quasi religious coming of age tale of a group of friends living in a small logging town, suddenly racked by a brutal murder, and the prime suspect has begun growing horns. Is he guilty, and if not why does he... uh... look so very guilty? As character studies go, the power of the horns to strip the fascade of normality off people is a revealing and emotionally brutal short cut into the dark hearts of the town's inhabitants. But, does anyone actually want to know what their parents really think of them, even under particularly trying circumstances? For characters we've already encountered this trick, the sudden need to reveal one's true feelings, can be enlightening, but since the effect happens a lot on total strangers, it does come across as a bit gimmicky and shallow.
For a film about people becoming adults, a few of these melodramatic revelations had me thinking, "Oh please, grow the **** up."

Mask of the Phantasm... and then some of the early Batman animated series.
I've never actually watched any of these before. They're pretty good.
It has a really enjoyable score to it as well, but then the old Batman Animated Series had some great sound in general too.

Yeah... Unfortunately, I got around to the 4th season (which was made a few years later than the others), and it's not as good. Some of the same actors, but Batman seemed to be more "Lawful Good" or something. Not quite the Dark Knight. He was harsher with Catwoman too. I think it's cooler (and canon?) for them to hook up (or try).
Also, Robin just makes Batman lamer.

Anyways... 1492 - Conquest of Paradise (Depardieu as Columbus).

Viggo Mortenson leads an impressive cast. If you like Cinderella stories you will like Hidalgo. I do and I will watch it again when my children are a little older. The mustang, an American story about an American horse, and maybe a tear or two.

Sword in the Stone was one of my favorite classic Disney animated films. I think my all time favorite would have to be ties between Robinhood and The Jungle Book.

A half decent story with likeable characters, a few questionable plot turns, and a few sequences that REALLY stretch credibility (looking at you poster on the left), enable this CGI (and animatronic?) extravaganza. Watchable, and the chemistry between Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) kept me engaged enough to root for the budding romance. Brought to mind Indy and Winnie from a better movie oh so very long ago.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Easily one of my favourite films of all time. I think partly why I like this movie so much is because I can kind of relate to it in some ways. Being a young adult, living in the middle of nowhere, working an underwhelming job, having a dysfunctional family and having your family rely heavily on you. You want to get out, but you're being restrained because of your responsibilities. Everyone knows they can rely on you because you aren't going to leave... but you want to leave.

"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"
another one I hadn't seen in some time
Director Chris Columbus takes the bestselling book and brings it to life with a script by Steve Kloves
with its main characters played by unknown actors (for obvious reasons), Columbus stacks his supporting cast with a who's who of British Cinema
Richard Harris,Maggie Smith,Robbie Coltraine,Alan Rickman, John Hurt and Richard Griffiths just for starters
a great start to a film franchise that stands right up there with Star Wars

A touching comedy about a wiry and charmingly awkward high schooler, Greg, forced by his guilt wielding mother to befriend a fellow student, Rachael, who has contracted leukemia. Greg, who sports a perpetual expression of equal parts disinterest and fear, has spent his years carefully navigating the social cliques of school in an effort to belong to none of them and thus appear "invisible", will not even acknowledge the friendship with his one friend, Earl, who he only refers to as his "co-worker" since they make spoof home movies together.
The awkward teen about to come of age is a standard story setup, but here it is executed brilliantly. The comedy is authentic and endearing, veering from the absurd to unbelievably cute. Its not a sweeping special effect spectacle by any means, but it is definitely worth watching.

Cause, I still think its a great movie, and no its not because of the powers or the silly special effects/camera tricks or whatever. I just like that a super being could be more than just some perfect example of chivalry, and justice. Hancock was awesome because he was flawed, even his pre-amnesia self seems to imply that he had a sort of hero complex that isn't necessarily good or bad, especially when you consider it got his mate hurt almost every time. I also liked it because it was resolved without the hero taking back his mate since it would have meant starting the vicious cycle all over again. I like this movie a lot, though I admit some of the cheesy scenes made me pause the movie and take a breather, "Don't call me crazy..." (Did they really have to give her a similar quirk as him?) and the Chief's loud yelling at Hancock before he cleaned up and during the hostage situation reminded me of those 90s cop movies where the Chief is always yelling at his out of control veteran does a good job but doesn't play by the rules cop(s).
Still love this film though, I hear there might be a sequel with Jaden Smith taking over the main character's role. I think they should have used Willow Smith cause she looks like a clone of her dad. heh heh.
