The difference is those were invaders.Im watching Prometheus right now, and i just got to the part where the female scientist lady tells a member of the crews Security Personnel that "This is a science expedition, no weapons." and he blows her off. I bring this up because I know i've seen it numerous times before in the reverse and as presented, but people generally don't take kindly to unannounced guest dropping in on them and invading their homes, we didn't like it when the Aliens from War of the Worlds did it, didn't like it Battle for Los Angeles did it, we didn't like it when Independence Day did it, was it aliens in Battleship cause i never watched it, but I assume it was. I'm not advocating going in guns blazing when visiting unannounced onto alien homeworlds, but I like the idea of being prepared just in case. Anyone else agree?
Those guys in Prometheus were armed for security purposes.
The Engineers were going to be hostile towards the humans anyway. So I say the precaution was justified.

I think they thought they were going to be investigating dead ruins. Still should have bought weapons for defense, though. Even a cutlass. The difference is those were invaders.

That's my point, it's silly that there is always some scientist trying to preach non-hostility despite them being intelligent to know that usual first encounters with foreign entities sometimes go bad, and that being precautious is the only thing that's going to save their lives.

I'M BACK from Terminator Genisys.
I don't know what crack reviewers are smoking, it was pretty good. Very fun, which was all I was askin for.
Better than Rise of the Machines and Salvation by a wide margin.
Lots of Arnie, lots of Terminators, and lots of dumb time travel wibbly-ness.

^I just rewatched that movie on Blu-ray the other day. It's probably my favorite movie of 2015 at this point. How sick was that church scene though?

It was pretty cool. Colin Firth is a badass. I thought SLJ's character was great too. He was a good comedic villain.

LA Confidential
Curtis Hanson's adaptation of James Elroy's novel about police corruption and the seamy side of 1950's Hollywood
Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe are stellar as 3 very different cops who's paths and cases cross
Kim Basinger won an Oscar although I don't understand why (although she is very good)
The script by Hanson and Brian Helgeland also won an Oscar (that I do understand)
most of the other awards it was nominated for went to Titanic, which likely resonated with the Academy's emotions better just as it had with the public
This film is however pure cinematic genius in its own right

I can keep watching this one...
Not sure why she won either, but I liked her too. It wasn't particularly standout though.

Almost a great movie, a little better than the previous Planet of the Apes (the prequel). Everything is done very good in this movie. 8.5/10
There is 6 characters that shape the story of this movie:
Caesar, the intelligent Ape leader
Koba, the douchebag Ape
Maurice, the wise Orangutan
Dreyfus, the leader of San Francisco Human remnants
Malcolm, the brave technician Human and diplomat

"Maurice" would be an homage to Maurice Evans who played Dr Zaius in the original back in 1968

I admit this is not the pinnacle of the medium. But for what they are, vampire/werewolf action fests, I kinda like the Underworld movies at least the first one and this one. I haven't watched the third. But I mean they're each an hour and a half, and these vampire and werewolves are much more my cup of tea than Twilight.
I might watch it again one day/10
