Lord_of_the_Rings_-_The_Return_of_the_Ki

I missed these movies during their original theatrical run, and after years of being incredulously asked, "What?! You haven't seen the Lord of the Rings movies?! This crime must not be tolerated!!!!", I finally got to the business of watching them all. I liked them well enough, but didn't really love any of them. Mostly, I found myself thinking "I guess this is what people who didn't grow up with Star Wars when they watch those movies." There's a limit to the amount of epic CGI battles I can deal with (some of the effects have dated a bit, it must be admitted), and something about most of the characters seems a bit, um, stiff, I guess? Hope I didn't poop all over anyone's childhood memories, and like I said, they're not bad movies by any stretch, but I just wasn't blown away by any of them.

I can say that these LOTR movies aren't as interesting as they used to be to me anymore. Still good movies.

Bad bad bad!!!! Kristen Steward was like an emotionless shaking brick as usual and definitely NOT more beautiful than Charlize Theron  But I liked the Hunter... he was nice, probably the ONLY nice one, the best actor in the whole movie, he carried it all the way! I wouldn't recommend it anyway though LOL

^I thought it was good for what it was. Kristen Stewart was probably miscast though.

Thoughtful movie. Great cast. Better than I expected, and I expected it to be good.

Okay, fine. I admit it was better than I thought. I can't stand Angelina normally, but she did well in this movie imo :3

This movie is hard to watch at times, but it is really, really good. You won't soon forget it.

Kinda watched the first Fantastic Four from TV. It was a little better than the sequel (specially in making of each FF), but still not a great movie.

Truthfully, I was pretty underwhelmed. A couple scenes seem superfluous, critical plot events (including the resolution to not one but two of the much ballyhooed chase sequences) are entirely a result of happenstance, and what should be the central conceit of the film (the idea that Max is slowly turning into a 'bad guy') is clumsily introduced and never convinces on any level. Plus, the musical cues are horribly dated, to the point of inducing some unintentional laughter. Sorry to be such a curmudgeon, but that's just honestly how I felt.

The story and action was very good. Nicolas Cage acted awesome most of the time and other characters were good. I almost freaked out silently a few times, thanks to those scary scenes! 7.75/10

Anchored by some terrific performances (as is always the case with PT Anderson movies), it's a film I found fascinating and perplexing in equal measure. The character of Lancaster Dodd is obviously based on L. Ron Hubbard, but anyone expecting an expose of Scientology is sure to be disappointed. The film is more interested in using "the Cause" (the film's proxy for Scientology) as a means to explore that familiar conflict between our instinctual impulses and the various forms of social conditioning used to keep those impulses in check.
