Hans Zimmer's amazeballs soundtrack helps a lot too for me. DC (and more specifically Nolan) is often criticised for being too serious and not making "comic book movies" but rather "movies about comic book characters" though, which seems more like praise. But I don't even see it, the Dark Knight has its fair share of wacky moments and implausible plots.

Have you seen the first Iron Man though? If you're anything like me I think you might enjoy that too.

I love the first iron man movie. It was really great and that role was made for Downey Jr

9/10, Even better than the first Thor movie. Cool plot (+twists), interesting (and strange) story elements, great acting and cool "humor". The quality and amount of graphical visuals is also very impressive. Not the best villains, but I'm impressed enough by this movie. Last Note: Lots of vague Dark Elvish speeches!

Just rewatched this morning. I know this is a messed up movie but I really like it!

Probably my favorite historical figure.

^ I really prefer to watch the cut version of movies! The uncut/unrated ones just distract you from the plot/story!

That particular version of that movie is COMPLETELY different than the theatrical one. Not only is there a ton of new footage but the scenes are in a different order. It's the best version by far, IMO.

Sometimes I just want to switch off my brain and endulge in the primal lust of seeing things get wrecked. And this movie delivers. Not much story to distract from the action, it's just one constant thrill ride.

That preamble done with, this is easily one of the BEST martial-arts movies I have ever seen. The action is fluid, it's tense, but never overwhelming and too much in your face. The combat scenes are gritty, they are brutal, but no litres upon litres of movie blood flying around. And the fight sequences themselves are brilliantly choreographied to a point where it's bloody art (pun intended).

And to put the cherry on top, the English dub (the movie is Indonesian) is so hilariously out-of-lipsync and unspirited voiced, you think you're watching one of those old Eastern flicks with their ten minute patchwork dub, in all it's parodied glory (though I'm pretty sure this dub is no parody, it's just so bad it's good again).

I had a slasher smile the entire duration of the movie, 10/10, would recommend. LI/SS plz!

For judging the best recent martial-arts movie I need to see The Grandmaster aka Grandmasters (2013) first...

Reviewers are a bunch of intolerant angry people. If the director/writer changes the source material 10% and they don't like the acting of one of the actors, It's automatically below 5/10. Personally I want to slap those people who score such films even lower, 1/10!

Looks like a good animation. Kinda Nemo-esque.

I watched it from TV and laughed hard so many times! But I kinda missed to watch some parts of the movie. It's certainly a hilarious movie and you're not allowed to agree to disagree!

I find it hard to enjoy superhero movies. Cinematography is usually good but they are usually predictable and cheesy for me. The dark knight is one of my favorites movies (largely influenced by the heath ledger performance )

Yeah you said two things that don't go together.
Dark Knight was good. But it like the rest of the Dark Knight Trilogy was shot like ****.
Or the editor was an intern...or an idiot. Either one.

Wao much fite scene.

Such combat

Shot like ****? No -- But it's not anything near the level of Christophe Beaucarne, Sofia El Fani, Ellen Kuras or Robert Yeoman

The Dark Knight's cinematography is consistent with the tone the story wants to set, and not overly rambunctious or all over the place like any of those Marvel comic book flicks -- It only starts to tipple with The Dark Knight Rises. Wally Pfister's cinematography is as top notch as it ever in his collaboration with the man. See, Memento or The Prestige. In short, get out of before you fling your poo around like an angry chimpanzee.

All over the place?

Yeah sure buddy.

Need I bring back this abomination.

Rises had better shot scenes of the trilogy.

I use fight scenes as an example as these are characters who get into a scrap alot.

Nolan's not an action director, at all.

All over the place exactly -- The camera constantly shakes, almost as irritating as a film by Paul Greengrass, in a weak attempt of trying to create a sense of attention, which is about as standard as action movies gets, but in terms of cinematography it is incredibly shallow -- Which is just as well because most of Marvel's comic flicks are either cartoonishly rambunctious like the Amazing Spider Man, pretentiousness, CGI porn like Avengers or The Hurt Locker-inspired Captain America. Yawn.

I'll give you one thing though -- That scene in Begins, in terms of how it was edited looks a bit retro and almost 80s inspired, which is out of place with the overall tone. But I need not remind that I was talking about The Dark Knight. Keep flinging your poo though, Clones. I'll always be happy to fling them back should I care enough to do so. :)

I did post a clip from TDK. It's also bad.

And enough with the poo metaphors dude. That's unsanitary.

I suppose I'll stick to DC Animation if I want anything worth half a damn.

It's an analogy, not a metaphor -- Know the difference, dude.

Also, I didn't see your Dark Knight example because the preview didn't show up.

Now that I've seen it I can safely say there's nothing wrong there. If you wanna talk about bad cinematography or below average, then one need look no further than the example you posted yourself, most of Bay's flicks, Paul Greengrass' Green Zone, any J. J. Abrams flick, The Spirit etc.
