It's an analogy, not a metaphor -- Know the difference, dude.

Also, I didn't see your Dark Knight example because the preview didn't show up.

Now that I've seen it I can safely say there's nothing wrong there. If you wanna talk about bad cinematography or below average, then one need look no further than the example you posted yourself, most of Bay's flicks, Paul Greengrass' Green Zone, any J. J. Abrams flick, The Spirit etc.

We fight alot.

I don't even know why. You seem alright.

Matter of perspective I suppose. I find the Nolan Bat flicks generally uninteresting and highly overrated. You don't whatever.

I really am sick of arguing with you every fortnight.

If that's the case then you always have the choice of not engaging me. :)

It's no less simple than that. I don't want to fight you but I can't say I agree with you no less when you make presumptuous statements, like

calling Pfister an intern or an idiot. Get back to me when you've watched Memento or The Prestige, then say that to me again.

Let's just say I couldn't refrain from commenting on this.

Dude I love Memento.

But the cinematography worked for the type of film it was.

The ones in the DKT doesn't really for the films they are. Except Rises. I saw some improvements there.

I have OCD I need to get the last word in.  :crying:

Also you compared me to a chimp, being I'm autistic you can see why that may ****** me off a little bit.

I think it's more to do with the fact that people don't like the films for not being very comicbook-esque, which is fair I guess.. but I preferred it this way. Coming from someone who actually likes the Batman mytho, who works with film and is a movie buff. I'm a film-fan first though so I just these films as films and not as comic books or how faithful they need to be to the source matierial -- There needs to be just enough for it to be considered a Batman film, whereas there's should also be room for interpretation and artistic liscense for the creator. This is Nolan's spin on the Dark Knight -- Love it or hate it of course. The Dark Knight's cinematography is quite well-rounded, and found it especially appealling in the beginning with the bank job and The Joker. Some neat aerial an moving shots, synchronizing with the humming of Zimmer's violin orchestra. It worked and also sealed the deal in regards to my adoration of the second film, among many other things.

You can feel free to disagree though, we're all different -- But it's in no way "****".

Recently re-watched How to Train your Dragon 2. Today, I am probably going to watch The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty again. The movie seems to cheer me up.

Always wanted to ask this.

TheChris92. Who'd you want to direct a MGS film and who'd you want as the film's action/combat choreographer?

I'd almost hesitate to say that Hideo should use his own team at KojiPro to do this, but if Final Fantasy Spirits Within has taught us anything then it's that game designers are game designers for a reason -- Not anything else. As for the question. It's a tough one. The thing about Metal Gear is that while there's a lot of cutscenes, most of the games are generally very different from each other, due to the different themes and topics they approach. If, for instance, we are talking about a game like Sons of Liberty, where post modernism is a central factor, the eerie surreal slippings of reality -- I'd say Christophe Beaucarne, Jordan Cronenwerth, if he was still alive today (his work with Blade Runner was something else), Gary Shaw (he's definitely someone to look out for, and I Moon was quite breathtaking in regards to its visuals, colouring and eerieness).

I think those would be interesting.

I don't get these abbreviations. Also, what's going on here?!

Dark Knight Rises had better action scenes and a good villain, but The Dark Knight had the better villain but not the better action scenes. Both stories are interesting in their own special way. Just like Batman Begins.

Agreed. Especially on Jordan Cronenwerth. RIP.

About the bolded. They'd have to be careful with introducing plot elements that would require meta knowledge, while it's marketing could potentially confuse the critics/audience members into thinking that it's only an action film, and who'll potentially deride the plot because they don't understand it's underlying themes.

Think of the type of criticisms Mission Impossible (1995) had received. (most were deserved)

Also who'd you want as a director of the action choreography?

See, the way of how most of Metal Gear's story is derided into CODEC conversation, kills the opportunity for making a film out of it I think -- That is to say, a film that would feel like it's Metal Gear. Look at Silent Hill. If you're a Silent Hill fan then you'll know what it is that made the games great, especially Silent Hill 2 -- It's all about the subtleties, the atmosphere, symbolism, something you couldn't possibly implement properly into a 1 hour and 30 minutes long film, as Christophe Gans discovered, to his smelly baguette eating cost.

It'll also probably won't fit into the required length a film needs to be for it to be acceptable for cinema viewing -- You get situations like with Von Trier's Nymphomaniac, or Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America -- May he rest in piece. He refused to make another film ever again after they cut out so much of his film. It's a bit of a sad tale.

The choreography? I really liked the choreography done for Equilibrium by Jim Vickers and Kurt Wimmer, despite the movie's critical standing with reviewers, I'd say the film is generally underrated and quite well screwed together in most departments. I don't know if Yuen Wong-Ping would suit the style of Metal Gear, at least the stuff he did on Kill Bill as that actually reminds me of a lot of the scenes that involve Vamp. While some of Metal Gear's fight scenes tips close to over-the-top, it's most of the time quite levelheaded when it's close combat. In fact, you rarely see anything like that in the first Metal Gear Solid outside of gameplay, which makes it hard. But those guys would definitely be ideal choices. I do, however, feel Kojima should go for fresh meat.

I watched Iron Man 3...

Iron+Man+3+poster.jpg

Not enough Ironman action but overall almost a good movie (acceptable but uncool villain) until the last 10 minutes when IronMan turned nuts and

Spoiler
. 5.5/10

See? Even with an outrageous decision in a movie I wouldn't go berserk and give 1/10. The movie was average at the end.

Rush

I really enjoyed it. If you're fan of motorsports, you have to watch it.

Seriously, who doesn't like Thor driving a Formula One car?

Even though I can't think of a reason why a movie about Niki Lauda could be bad I still haven't watched it..

I caught up on two recent and amazing movies with some friends yesterday:

MV5BMzMwMTAwODczN15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMDk2

Do I need to say anything about this movie? It is absolutely fantastic

I am already waiting for part 3

xmen_days_of_future_past_ver5_xlg.jpg

This might just have become my new favorite X-Men movie. (with the exception of that really weird end scene..:S)

Lately I've seen Filth, Captain America 2 and Need for Speed.

Filth was awesome, the other two were fun but nothing special.

Nolan is terrible with fights. I wouldn't say action directly (tumbler scene in Begins was amazing), but I don't think I've ever seen a single Nolan film with a nice fight sequence. Begins probably being the worst offender. It was so impossible to see anything going on they literally might as well have faded to black. I don't think the cinematography in general is bad at all. Begins had a great memorable shot after he reveals his identity to Rachel then flies over Arkham. Dark Knight's opening was great like Chris said, and then Hong Kong was fantastic. I've seen complaints about the Joker chase sequence though.

I also have no idea why people would say it's not comic booky- Batman insists on using his fists when he could easily use an assortment of non lethal weapons. Heck he finally uses a tranquilizer batarang (he's really big on his theme) on Rises, but does he use them on Bane? Nope they have to have fisticuffs! And why doesn't Bane use guns? Were his parents gunned down too? OH and did Bat's parents come back as ghosts and say "Son, go nuts with Tank-grade weapons on your vehicles, just don't hold any guns!" Why doesn't the joker go down like the other villains when Batman hits him? Why does he decide to fight batman with rottweilers and a pipe? Why does he win? Was he a ninja too? How does Batman beat Bane in their rematch? He just escaped form malnourished captivity after getting his back broken, hasn't done any sparring, or even any running. I want a rocky montage.

Honestly they didn't take out nearly enough comic bookness.

and yea Winter Soldier had some of the best fights I've seen. Slightly flashy, without overly offending physics, and really visceral and natural looking. Even the laugh out loud super flying kicks looked believable. The action and the Sad Peggy scene were the only real highlights for me, but boy were they good.
