Oh sure.
See, I'm not a Godzilla fan at all. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
So when I watched it. I just wanted a Monster movie with things killing each other in epic CG action.
So yeah, Pacific Rim is what I really wanted out of Godzilla.
F*ck, 2005's King Kong was what I wanted out of Godzilla (epic t-rex fight.)
You've made all that more than apparent.
To reiterate.
Getting all these movies was a pain in the ass.
I've been around long enough to understand these movies aren't for everyone. But 2014 does a better job representing the films than 98 did.
Under a different name, 98 isn't that bad. It's one of the only Emmerich movies (Along with Independence Day, and Stargate) I can stand. But it falters as a Godzilla movie.
Imagine if a remake of Jojo was done, and they changed the look of all the characters and removed all their abilities, and everything over the top about it. But if you take the name away, and mentally change the names of the characters, it's fine.
That's what 98 is like to me.
It's much like Electric Blue Superman.

Powers weren't right, the look wasn't right, and it was just a stupid idea to "Reinvent" the character.
That's what this thing is when people call it Godzilla.
It's Zilla or That Damn Iguana.
Also I have no quarrel with Peter Jacksons King Kong, that's a great movie, Andy Serkis did a great job in that. Tie-in game wasn't that bad either.
