It's deliciously awesome.
Morgan Freeman and Sir Ben Kingsly are probably the best part about the entire film IMO.

Well it's pretty much been decided.

Be it the book, the animated film, and now the movie.
I will cry like a little girl at the end of the Hobbit...without fail.
Other than that. I didn't think it was possible to put that amount of action into one movie.

Annabelle. Probably the most underwhelming horror film of the past decade, IMO.
Gone Girl. Pretty good, if you can stand Ben Affleck's wooden acting. Expect Rosamund Pike to get an Oscar nom for her performance. +1 for Carrie ****** featuring.

Pretty average movie, I found. Enjoyed it mostly simply b/c I'm a sucker for anything LOTR related.

How good was it?
First of all the film looks gorgeous. Saw it in 3D and the costumes and environments of ancient Egypt are a joy to watch. All the plagues were spectacular too. But Moses could have used a little more character development. He never forms much of a connection with his people, the Hebrews. His turning point in the biblical story, of how he kills an Egyptian whipping a Hebrew slave, is not in the movie. If anything he feels more love and loyalty for Egypt, likely because they wanted to make the relationship/rivalry with Ramses more important, but that also never fully comes to right. So if you're Christian or Jewish and want it to be 100% faithful to the Bible, you probably won't like it. Otherwise it's a decent movie, even though a bit of the grandeur and impressive effects may serve to distract from some of the weaknesses in the story. I'd still recommend giving it a watch if you like this type of films.
I think the negative reviews on IMDB are overly harsh.

Typical negative review on IMDB:
THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVAR, 0/10.
So just watch Prince of Egypt instead?
No. I don't want to see animation. I want to see a good movie version of Moses Story with C.Bale and great visual effects.

Why is Christian Bale required? No. I don't want to see animation. I want to see a good movie version of Moses Story with C.Bale and great visual effects.
Prince of Egypt is a visual masterpiece.
And hell 10 Commandments is a classic...and a billion hours long...

Ha, agreed. But when I looked for reviews a lot of discontentment seemed to stem from that, so I thought I'd mention it.
And I did dislike how the Harry Potter movies deviated from the books. ![]()

The point about "movies based on books being disappointing to hardcore fans of the book" is that in 2 or 3 hours one cannot simply put all the story materials of the book and some of this materials are important to each of these fans. Simply putting the plot won't be satisfying.
And... I didn't read the last Harry Potter book! ![]()
