The point about "movies based on books being disappointing to hardcore fans of the book" is that in 2 or 3 hours one cannot simply put all the story materials of the book and some of this materials are important to each of these fans. Simply putting the plot won't be satisfying.
And... I didn't read the last Harry Potter book!
lol and they wanted one Hobbit movie.
Bunch of dumbasses xD
Ruroni Kenshin and Godzilla

Two long Hobbit movies could be enough.
That last Hobbit movie released this Christmas wasn't too good. It's the first movie I've felt trapped in for a long time. Way too long. Lotta scenes seemed overextended with slow mo sequences for no reason. There were a couple of interesting plot developments, but by the time they happened I just wanted the movie to end.

Could be, but I still support three.
This is how I would've done it anyway.
1st film? Fine as it is.
2nd film - cut KxT sh*t, cut Alfrid, extend Beorn, extend Bard, end how it is.
3rd film - make movie 3 hours long, extend smaug sh*t by showing a lot more death and ruin, everything goes how it does in the movie next, then with TXK cut and Alfrid + extra 40 minutes, make end longer with stop at Rivendell and Balin visting bilbo.
Just minor changes, but I think that would be better overall.
I bet others have a different opinion on it, though.
Errr... what else...
Oh yeah.
I think the end was rushed because of numerous complaints that the end was slow for RoTK.
Which were stupid. RoTK ended perfectly, every thread was tied up.
Stupid people -.-

Blasphemy.
Best part of Unexpected Journey was Bag End.
If there weren't so many people around I would've have jumped in joy by hearing "that's what bilbo baggins hates."
One of my favourite Tolkein songs ever.
Had a huge stupid grin on my face when that played.

P.S
Tolkein revised the Hobbit to match LOTR's depth and prose.
You can find the revised version (though incomplete) for around 200 dollars called "The History of the Hobbit."
They reached Bree before the book ends and it was already longer that the original Hobbit.

There's really no point in tying too many threads up at the end of The Hobbit since the story is not really over yet and the events of The Hobbit have set the events of LOTR into motion. So an overlong ending tying up everything would seem a bit unnecessary to me.

What? You say it's a bad movie then take its portrayal of women as an accurate representation of real life?
No, I'm saying that it is a bad movie because of its narrative. However, Because its thorough analysis would be very long, I tried to give the brief analysis.

You make a good point.
But when I say the ending is rushed I mean...
Really bothers me.
^ Oi oi... most of us haven't watched the movies yet.

This is my fault for being an arrogant p*ick and assuming everybody has read the Hobbit ![]()

You really need to be paying attention to the movie... It was... Quite the, uh, experience.

Spoiler
Really bothers me.
I hope the extended cut fixes that.
I'm glad they kept in the Sackville-Baggins' selling his stuff though ![]()

@Autumn: How was it??

I saw the Interview today, not really christmasy I know, but everyone wanted to see what the fuss was about.
That was a mistake. Watching it with family around was awkward, not sure wtf I was thinking sticking around for it.
Anyway, it has its moments, but I was unimpressed. To be fair my perception of it might just be flawed because of the whole family being around thing.

El pago sounds better. I remember liking it much more than the critics said I should.
Yeah, it was entertaining. Not great but amusing enough ![]()
