^ A woman in Mexico was caught masturbating at a 50 shades screening - congrats ladies, you made porn mainstream, something guys haven't been able to do for decades. :P

Keep in mind: This film is NOT sexy to women because of the sanitized S&M or the appeal of the actor... The true reason it is exciting for chicks is because the Grey character is wealthy

The Birdman looks alright, not the great movie people claim it to be though.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 was the best animation this year. I'm not into Fat Robots... boring!

Really good to filmmaking? Take 1982 and I'm sure there have been even better years!

Birdman IS brilliant. And I don't really understand all the fuss about How to train your Dragon 2. But that's just me. And 2014 was better than 1982 to me.

C'mon. Lego Movie was by far the greatest ever. Do agree about Birdman being fantastic

The highlighted movies are among my favorites. The rest doesn't really interest me. I have a very specific personal interest. That doesn't mean that they're bad though.

1939 offers a great historical line-up still enjoyed to this day. While a few films are dated, many are quite memorable and have become part of the culture (eg; Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, Stagecoach, Young Mr Lincoln, Mr Smith Goes To Washington).

Last 2 years have been good for one reason.

Thanks to Pacific Rim and Godzilla, the Kaiju Genre in popular consciousness has been properly revived from the 10 year dead period since 2004.

That's all that matters to me.

Also Disney gets biased Favoritism from the "Academics" (With heavy quotations, with a B average in school I'm more of an academic than those losers are) that nominate animated films.

Should've been a head to head between Lego and How to Train your Dragon 2. Movies I both liked, and didn't get a resounding "Meh" from people around me like Big Hero 6 did.

I agree with your animation point, but WTH? Kaiju genre isn't that important. Indeed I praised Pacific Rim.

It's important to me. I love Kaiju films.

There's a new Gamera coming out this year.

I'm very excited.

Because Gamera is amazing.

Then another Japanese Godzilla and Skull Island in 2016

Pacific Rim 2 in 2017

And Godzilla 2 in 2018.

Very content.

2013 wasn't a good year to filmmaking. Like, At all.

The Academy isn't biased. I'm tired of hearing about this particular point. No, The Academy isn't excluding black people, Women or any creative artists. They just have a way of looking at movies. You can agree or disagree with them. As Birdman portrayed perfectly, There's no objectivity in art. All critics do is to label things. There's no master race. And I have already explained why Big Hero 6 deserves the Oscar more than HTTYD 2 or LEGO from the Academy's perspective. The Oscars' importance is their symbolic value, That The Oscars have become a celebration of filmmaking, Not a certain agenda. The Academy shouldn't and won't change their vision because of the general public or the collective consensus of critics.

berserkmovieteaserposter.jpgMy third rewatch of this and it isn't as bad as I thought. The voice acting is still great, the non-CGI animated parts look great and the emotion comes out well.

Mm. Quaint.

You do realize the Farce that was the 2013 animated Oscars was caused because the numbnuts only watched Frozen and didn't bother watching anything else right?

I have evidence of this.

oscarvoters-survey.jpg

Load of lazy A-holes.

Your job is to watch movies. Do your goddamn job.

They pick Disney because it's a safe option. Or Abstain.
That's the beginning and end of it.

I don't really try to make biased judgment or to judge creative artists because of their vision. I didn't like Frozen, True, But other people may have liked it for their own respective reasons. The voting system of the Academy is complex and I haven't researched about how it works. So, I don't jump to conclusions.

Yup. No bias here. I can see that.

Majority of these votes are abstains. This is a farce with a capital F.

If this was in any other category people would be calling them out for being lazy.

This year was just as bad.

In case you didn't see it, Most of them "abstained" because they haven't watched most of the nominees. The ones who voted have actually watched them all and think Frozen is better. It's their opinion. There's again no bias in that photo. Though I doubt its authenticity.

Your source? I'm not falsifying evidence, This photo isn't even evidence of anything, I'm just a skeptic by nature.

I'm pretty sure they have the rights not to watch any particular movies they don't want to watch. It's up to them to decide what to watch and what not to watch based on their preference.

I've watched the series. This is just a remake of three episodes at the middle of the series I think. It must look good.

The image is from Cartoon Brew. Taken from an interview by the Hollywood Reporter.

You're accusing me of falsifying evidence btw. I'm not accusing you of anything.  <_<

Again, it's their job to evaluate all the nominees. Even if it's not to their preference.

Sorry I look at this more professionally that the Academics.

No, You don't look at this more professionally than the Academy. And No, I'm not accusing you of anything, As i said I'm a skeptic, I always doubt everything. And they do evaluate the nominees, But some of the voters simply have not watched enough movies to vote in a particular category. So, It's only fair that they abstain.
