I'm not even sure why they made this but for me I found it a kind of fun little film. It came out in 1009 as a made for TV movie and considering that, and TV budgets it looked good production wise. The animation on the invaders was good....

SFX were really good for 1009. :P

Not a fan. But the reel we saw revealed strings pulling drawers from dressers and the like. Much prefer suspense films like Wait Until Dark w/ Audrey Hepburn.

Went on a Sandal binge, watching the new Hercules and Exodus.

Hercules was a neat brain-off movie, but I thought Exodus tried to take itself too seriously, like it was attempting to be The Ten Commandments 2.0.

For me sepcial effects aren't an issue. To me horror is all about build up, atmosphere, and tone. That which cannot be understood turly disturbs me. The Exorcist really has all of those going on all cylinders

Not a fan of gore and profanity, so this plays into my opinion. For instance, the Exorcist III is a wonderfully told story for most of the film, but the conclusion is one of the worst I have seen. Still a good scare, though.

Some good laughs (but not enough), good acting by Mila and Mark, kinda awkward, went meh after the awkward party, nice ending tho.

6.5/10

Mila's voice is worse than me! That's kinda confidence enhancer! lulz

Kingsman-movie.jpg

I liked this film a lot more than I expected to. The humor is crass, dark and absolutely not for everyone, but the cast is likeable enough to prevent the proceedings from ever getting too darkly cynical. The script pays off all the little things it sets up, defines and resolves its central character arcs, and gives you enough twists to keep you guessing without ever screaming, "Waht a twist!!" Also, could we call Kingsman one of the first post-John Wick action movies? This film (thankfully) avoids quick cutting in its action scenes, and director Matthew Vaughn does some interesting things moving the camera back and forth along the z-axis to give the scenes more kinetic energy.

Thematically, the film isn't earth-shaking but has enough to get the job done for a blockbuster-type movie. There's some class commentary throughout, but I don't know if it amounts to anything beyond, "Being a gentleman isn't about what family you were born into!" There's also some self-referential commentary on James Bond movies, and how blockbusters nowadays seem so darned serious and Nolan-ized, which works well in the context of the film's overall comic approach.

How To Train Your Dragon; great writing, and better than I imagined.

Also saw HTTYD 2 last evening; not as good as the first one, but still entertaining.

Watched the last of my Animated cravings with Brave. Enjoyable story, but have to give the winner of this film festival to HTTYD.
