Great acting by Kevin Costner stuck between doing his killing job, overcoming his lethal illness and fixing his family. OK humor, good action scenes in Paris.

7.5/10

It was pretty cool seeing Vegeta flip out after Beerus smacks Bulma right in front of him. This movie really makes me look forward to Revival of F when/if it gets a Western release.

I highly recommend it. It begins to drag for a good 15 minutes or so in the middle (in a 105 minute movie) when Emperor Pilaf, Mai, and Shu show up. The banter between Whis and Beerus more than makes up for it though. The dialogue is surprisingly good for DBZ (which is normally cheesy and a bit tacky).

Just watched this with my sons... Despite the "fall Out Boy" music, flick was very good. 8/10

I wanna watch Gravity too :(

I rewatched Contact from 1997. Great movie, I'd recommend this underrated gem to most. I understand why some people find it mediocre but I respectfully disagree. I think it has some flaws but it gets its point across at the end of the day and it really touches me.

Pretty cool silent film. Especially if you're a Batman fan as Conrad Veidt's character was one of the inspirations for Joker.

You can watch it here with the 1989 Batman soundtrack.

Do you by any chance enjoy the film's from Charlie Chaplin?

I jokingly called Gravity a 90 minute demo reel for VFX

Contact is brilliant....... I love it though some of the translation from the book to the film is lost. Too much focus on the religious stuff in the film.. It really irked me.   I love the design of the alien machine and yet those dummy heads didn't think it worked yet she had recorded 18 hours of static.... Yet they make her the fall guy.  dummy heads the lot of them.

Read the book it's fantastic.

BTW I often do wonder if we parked a ship at the edge of the solar system what TV or radio signals we would pick up..... Assume you could travel there at just past light speed and park on the edge of the solar system. I wonder what signals if any you would get.

OK but at the edge of our Solar System how old would the signals be?

I think it's 30 minutes to Mars.

Semi-wild/educated Guess: So to the edge of solar system should be 3 days?

loved it, though I think I watched it more for Gogo Tamago, and Baymax funniness than the core story, which was still okay.

Absolutely adore this and How to train your Dragon 2.

I really want to read the novel now. The religious stuff was really silly to me too. The way they question Jodie Foster's belief at a press meeting as if it's a crime was really unrealistic and made me roll my eyes. But like I said I think it got the point across nonetheless, and religion is like the other side of the coin in this movie. It is essential.

Also the CG in the final moments of the film is terrible even for 1997 but it was okay. A lot of people seem to be caught up in the end twist and says it's sentimental garbage that makes no sense. I think it's brilliant and makes a lot of sense to me.

Anyway, is the love relationship between Jodie and Michael McCanaughy better in the book? It seems quite underdeveloped in the movie.

I wouldn't say it is different but it's there..... The book is a whole different animal to the film. There was lots of differences.

But yes I highly recommend reading the novel.

If someone told me that a film could be made where Hitler was the main character, and had a balanced portrayal, I would have thought they were a member of Stormfront. This movie though, it's just...whoa

Broken image. If it's the Great Dictator, well I just hope you aren't bashing such a great movie. Charlie Chaplin was and is a amazing actor.
