They die if you stick a blade in their guts or set them on fire. Not so immortal, I'd say.
Immortal as in don't die of natural causes and can live forever. The elves in LotR are immortal, yet we see dozens get killed in combat.

Ageless is more correct then. Immortal gives the sense of something that can never die. ![]()
Darkspawn don't need to follow an archdemon. They would just do their own thing that they do in between blights. Try to wipe out the dwarves and keep advancing continuously.
That or follow the Disciples or the Architect plus whoever he awakens, like the Mother.

I originally said ageless to someone wondering if the Darkspawn were immortal. ![]()

I'd be curious how the Grey Wardens who turn into darkspawn are affected after the last Arch Demon is killed. Will the taint just go away and dissolve? I think it will be interesting to see how this is handled in future games.
They'll become unemployed bums, roaming the land in search of purpose. But finding none. And then, they will die.
Well, correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the Awakening-Ritual of the Architect do nothing but block out the Archdemons "calling"?
Because if so,wouldnt that mean that after the last Archdemon is killed all Darkspawn would become Awakened, due to the lack of Archdemon influence?

You know, you may have a point there. Once the last Archdemon falls, all Darkspawn will be freed from the hivemind that the Old God's calls created.

And fall under the hivemind of Corypheus and maybe other magisters, the Architect, or if you killed him, his surviving disciples.

That is true, yes. But if Corypheus and the other magisters are eliminated then what happens?
The darkspawn will permanently become become dwarves problem as everyone on the surface puts them on the pay no mind list.
Not quite true. The Anderfels deals with them almost as much as the Dwarves do.
I kind of get the impression that the whole blight/darkspawn phenomenon though will be wrapped up and ended in a spectacular and epic moment. That's not based on anything I have seen or heard, but I think as far as narrative story telling goes... that's kind of the only way I see it happening.
Whatever the "source" of the taint might be, will likely be found and destroyed by an enigmatic group of adventurers at some point. Maybe DA5 ![]()
If last old god/archdemon is killed darkspawn won't hear song anymore so result can be unpredictable as they can even turn into awakened darkspawn without song other result can be that darkspawn will still dangerous but on same level as they were between blights.
Those who spared architect did very dumb thing on long and possible short term as darkspawn can't coexist with any other race as well they need females from other races to reproduce so now flawed with "humanity" darkspawn will start conquer other nations to improve their lifes and to be able reproduce themselves and that they have guy who will destroy everyone and everything to help and imorve life of darkspawn as leader won't help...
They will reveal that the gryphons didn't go extinct... they were all stolen by darkspawn. Once they control the deep roads and the sky, they'll strike: all our cheese are belong to darkspawn.
I wish they'd reveal that the griffins didn't go extinct. The more griffins the better.
I wonder how the darkspawn act if it has no leader such as the architect or the archdemon will they randomly attack the dwarves and the surfaces until there numbers to deplete. It's a scary thought to wonder what would happen if no one was leading the darkspawn
Internet Explorer is a blight.
As a web developer this is an understatement.

Pretty much this.
Although without the 'Calling' of the Old Gods who knows what the Darkspawn would actually do? Even inbetween Blights they are guided by the OG 'song', so if the song disappears completely maybe they go Ape and attack everything, or maybe the sit down like mindless animals and die. My bet is they keep doing what the were doing, but less effectively and are eventually pushed back until we kill the last one of em.

Correctomundo I personally have to say the darkspawn in my opinion are the most dangerous threat in thedas long term wise I wonder how they can be eradicated completely.

I believe it was said somewhere that the Broodmothers are the leaders of the Darkspawn when there are no Old Gods awake. Makes sense since a lot of Darkspawn turned to the Mother in Awakening.
