Since I installed the game from Steam, it's been very unstable; seemingly random CTDs, CTDs during conversation and even occasional CTDs when quicksaving (very annoying).

I've uploaded the latest log here;

Now, my PC does have a few issues at the moment and I'm aiming to reformat this weekend, but could this issue be anything else that a reformat wouldn't fix?

hmm

have you attempted to run in compatibility mode for xp? also trying launching Mass Effect as admin (this ends up launching steam as admin each time as well).

The only account I use is an admin. Got annoyed of it, reformatting tonight as soon as everything's backed up :) Hopefully that'll fix it. I suspect

Get memtest86 and run this to verify that your memory is good. I have had problems with large memory configs (4 DIMMs) being stable.

The file not found error indicates a corrupt file pointer in memory or a bad NTFS file system pointer. A chkdsk would be prudent to run also.

You may also want to update your directx 9.0c from the microsoft download website. I found my DAO and ME1 ran better on both Vista and win7 x64 after i did this (on a clean install of both by the way.)

If you disable the Steam in game overlay you should see a huge increase in fps and stability.

Also did you go to the game properties in Steam and verify the files?

I have win7 + steam and no issues on my end. I mean, games crash once in a while no matter who makes it, it just happens. Most likely even at no fault of the developer. In any case, do what doofus and zacro said and get back to us :)

I'm running win7 + steam and the previous nvidia patch had screwed up ME and made it get annoyingly choppy intermittently. However, there's a brand new patch out and the problem is solved. Huzzah. I'd recommend giving it a shot.
