Forgive me if this has been verified already, but do we know with any degree of certainty which background the player elf will have?
I've been assuming City Elf, but I'm not sure where I got that.

I don't know of anything confirmed but I'd guess City Elf as well.
They said you could play a dalish mage, I don't know if that's changed. ![]()
I think they have confirmed that the mage elf will be dalish. Not certain if rogues and warriors will be dalish as well.
Many assume the Inquisitor is going to be Dalish. I'm thinking we're going to play as a city elf because of the whole tattoos thing (the vallaslin),which were not shown on the Elf Inquisitor's face
Oooh, now that's interesting. I hadn't considered the possibility that it might be split. Dalish for mage, City for warrior/rogue? My only thinking on that is voice acting. A Dalish Elf would have a very different accent from a City Elf. I suspect that if one is Dalish, all will be Dalish.
Mage Dalish, others City.
The only thing we've been told is during a panel that it was confirmed that we can play as a "Dalish Mage"
Whether or not all PC elves are Dalish is unknown.
I am partial to the Dalish because that's what I started with in DAO and it was the origin I ultimately identified with the most.
Maybe we will have a choice. That would be great ![]()

Originally, I was very pro-City elf Inquisitor, but with the news that the mage will be Dalish, I have convinced myself we will be Dalish for the warrior and rogue too. Honestly, reworking the Inquisitor's backstory for a Dalish elf so they can still be the type of person I want has made them so much more interesting, so now I might actually be disappointed if we have to be a City Elf now. I still have City Elf Pride and everything, but I just think a Dalish might be a better fit for the Inquisitor I want to play.
I'd personally like to see an city elf involved n the elven rebellion that takes place atm in Orlais. So I'll prefer our mages to be Dalish and our rogues/warriors city elves like some people suggested.Fingers crossed we will have the option to play both backgrounds!
If I remember the Dalish mage was pretty much confirmed. The other elf classes are probably of a city background.
I think they've said backgrounds are assigned based on class/race.
My guess, might be, that indeed an Elf Mage will be Dalish; as for an Elf Warrior or Rogue, my guess is one, most likely the latter, will be City. (After all, City Elves, having lived lives of poverty in Alienages, might turn to a life of roguery.) Could be both.
You can be Dalish so I doubt you can be City elf as well, might be wrong but it seems extra costly to have four voice actors for one race. Or maybe they'll have the City elf have the same accent as the Dalish.
They've said in the past that our backgrounds will be tied to our race/class combinations. Economically, that probably means a background for mages and a background for warriors/rogues. If I had to guess:
Warrior/Rogue:
City Elf
Surface Dwarf
Mercenary Qunari
(Unsure about human)
Mage
Dalish Elf
Human Circle Mage
(Unsure about Qunari)
I think humans can be warriors judging from the demo, and It was also confirmed that we can play a qunari mage.
I know we can be, I'm just unsure what sort of backgrounds they would get. A human warrior/rogue could be just about anything and I'm not sure how Qunari Mage should be different from a Qunari warrior background.I think humans can be warriors judging from the demo, and It was also confirmed that we can play a qunari mage.

Or maybe they can find a voice actor who can also do a welsh/Irish accent besides his native one.If the number of voice actors is limited then It'd make more sense they choose a voice actor who is flexible with his voice.
But since it's indeed costly, I assume the actors will record one session each, and maybe add some extra lines for each race/class and slightly change the pitch so that they don't sound identical. Though I'd really like the Dalish quizzy to have an accent...
Well, they could always have the Dalish be like Lanaya, a city elf raised among the Dalish from a young age. It would explain the voice anyway.Or maybe they can find a voice actor who can also do a welsh/Irish accent besides his native one.If the number of voice actors is limited then It'd make more sense they choose a voice actor who is flexible with his voice.

Well, that's how I was going to justify the lack of accent RP-wise. ![]()

Believe I mentioned this before, but once again: if you're an elf, you're Dalish.

Only mentioned for mages IIRC. So all elves are Dalish?
