What about mage? Can we be human noble mage?
No because that's not how it works

I'm going to go with a no on that. Unless you mean they belonged to a noble family but when they discovered they had magic were taken from that family and sent to nearest Circle.

That.... would be.... incredible.... and now I have a very imaginative character that I'm going to sketch out. (but yeah also a no because Thedas wouldn't have that)

I grow so tired of this phrasing, we have little evidence how many mages are dragged kicking and screaming to the circle, and Wynne at least went there on the shoulders of a friendly templar after being thrown out of her adopted home.
And I'd argue letting Isolde keep Connor might be akin to child abuse
A person after my own heart truly
I am inclined to agree, I feel like people how don't like playing humans would not be amused at a repeat Cousland-esque character
Playing as a human noble is so much fun, but I wish we had more power in DA:O.

Well given his current position as a grey warden, the revocation of his family's rights by Loghain, and the necessity of the Blight, I am understanding.
I can always be Prince-Consort

Absolutely. She put the entire city of Redcliffe in danger, I don't think she's the most suitable parent-of-a-mage-that's not in the Circle. Even without that detail, the things Alistair told us about her and children weren't exactly... supporting of her motherhood.

True but I wish the Origin had been a teeeensy bit longer where we could explore just how much influence we had in Highever.
Next best thing, I suppose.. but then I'd have to be married to Alistair, whom I adore, but is a giant man-child.

True, I was just typing quickly in case Lulu replied before I finished my edit. I switched it to taken. Better?

And lots not even get started on her voice.....oh god her voice.....
nails on chalkboard tell their children horror stories of her

In the MotA DLC, she had a fraction of the screen time she had in DA:O and yet somehow she annoyed me even more?

It would have been fun to order around guards and servants....

I was spared that horror because I refused to buy any DLC for that abomination of a game

And then there was Tallis..... ![]()
yeah, as long as our Dalish Elves are nothing like Tallis, I'll be very happy.

From the LPs I've seen of that DLC, she'd be placed on my "list of characters to murder knife ASAP"
I empathize with the City Elf lovers, I'm sure I'd feel the same way if the decision was reversed.
But with the elves being established as Dalish, I have so many hopes...
Hoping that the Elven Arcane Warrior spec returns... Hoping that we can ride halla geared up like the Elven Knights of old... Hoping we can really get a chance to know some the other clans and their Keepers at the Arlathvhen.... And hoping, beyond hope, we get to rediscover Arlathan. Or at the very least uncover some more of the ancient Elven secrets and lore.
I almost feel like this game is best with a Dalish elf from what we have heard. I am playing dwarf, but my second will definitely be dalish despite it being my least favorite playthrough but mostly because I didn't have enough coercion to get my own backstory.
Hey maybe city elf next time? There will be many games and it makes sense to go back and forth.
Even I grow tired of cynicism and pessimism
It doesn't have to be fueled by cynicism though. I'm mostly a "hope for the best, expect the worst" type. Though I suppose it's more "hope for the best, but be okay with the worst." Any game that doesn't make me think I'll be "okay with the worst" is the type of game that I probably won't buy day one, but may keep an eye on depending on what I feel "hoping for the best" may provide.

Same. The head-canon for my Surana was that, despite an emotional goodbye with his mother, it was generally treated as a positive event of moving to a better life than what the alienage could offer.
The Circle is definitely better than an alienage. One elf apprentice you meet seems happy to be a Mage in the Sudan's Origin, but that has more to do with the power magic offers if I remember right. He at least comments about liking humans fearing him.

Fixed.

The Chantry controlled Circles, the Alienages, and Dust Town are all terrible. Eadric wasn't a bad guy; he strives very hard because of the racism that elves endure, which has colored his outlook on the world (especially humans), and says as much when Surana is speaking with him about his studies.

People, people, there's no reason to fight. There's plenty of oppression to go around! ![]()
A little more on topic, the differences between City and Dalish (and Circle) elves are cultural. The elf x non-elf = always non-elf progeny shows that it's impossible to be an elf without having all elf ancestors, so the claims of some being "less elven," "flat-ears," "might as well be shems" etc. ridiculous at best. However, there are differences in background, upbringing, lifestyle, culture, values, worldviews, etc. I happen to identify most with the City Elves, but at the end of the day, they're all elves.
City Elves are most in line with the elves' true purpose and primary value-that is, servitude-and thus are more forgivable of the two.
Are you like this in every game you play?
