Elf: Dalish or City?

Why would a Dalish elf be an agent of the Chantry, the same institution that led an EXALTED MARCH on the Dales, which led to their nomadic lifestyle and the overall crap treatment of elves in general?  Even as chill as some people's Dalish OCs probably are, why would they get on-board with that?

It smells like laziness to me, but I'm sure someone just did it for efficiency's sake, to have one origin that wraps all the classes in one neat little bow.

Gaider has stated that the protagonist isn't going to be forced to work for the Chantry. I think it's a good choice, since some players don't want to work for the Chantry. The coronation artwork with the Inquisitor (and someone who appears to be Leliana) may be a sign that it's possible for the Inquisitor to willingly side with the Andrastian Chantry.

Holla elf lovers. What do you think about the voice from the demo being the voice of our male Dalish inquisitor? I'm sure you seen elsewhere that I'm not a huge fan, but I wonder if some of you are? I'm probably in the minority :D

I thought it was a sexy voice. But it doesn't fit a dalish voice for me. Maybe too deep. I'd rather think it was the human inquisitor voice.

Imo, it sounded sexy-mazing in the demo. I'm not sure if it would sound right on a dude elf though, but I haven't seen what they look like in Inquisition.

Seems more of what I'd expect from a human and less an elf.

I'd like something different for our elven Inquisitors.

A voice like in the Discover DA video requires facial hair, elves are ill-equipped

Yeah it's like I can see it for a grizzled (and sexy) 40+ human inquisitor, but not for an elf. And yeah, there's Fenris' voice, and it's not light either. But it's very... Fenris. I wouldn't want my PC to have a Fenris-like voice.

Assuming that they're probably only going to have one VA across all races, they probably wanted a voice that was as race neutral as possible.

Yeah, I was actually anticipating that. This doesn't strike me as race-neutral though! It even seems to demand you play a certain "type" of human; I can't imagine some of my more vibrant and silly/snarky Hawke's having this voice. (Or any of my Wardens for that matter.) But it's likely just a personal preference.

He has a lovely voice, that's for certain.

The accent is very Dalish-like, and seems like something that would somewhat fit all the races so i wouldn't be surprised if they did 1 voice for male and 1 for female.

You could pave roads with all the gravel in his voice, that's for sure.

Actually, some dalish elves in DA2 had boots (the two guards).
Anyway, I really doubt the PC will be forced to go shoeless.

There is some concept art with a female Dalish elf (along with a dwarven and human Inquisitor). That might be an indication on how the elven Inquisitor starts out the story (feet wise).

I recall Gaider making a remark about the artists and elves not wearing shoes; it seemed to be some tic with them that the writers didn't seem to share, which isn't surprising given the subtle jabs Merrill and Fenris made about not wearing shoes.

They aren't hobbits so I would hope they'd have their footwear back.

Okay, we really need a definitive answer on whether my poor, hippy elf is going to walking around forests with sharp rocks and twigs with no shoes on.  Because I'm going to have a really hard time RPing that.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that "Dailish" footwear is modeled as bare feet.  So elves will probably be able to wear shoes.  And on the plus side, you can have bare-footed Qunari by simply equipping them with said Dailish footwear.  Win-win.

I think I know the true reason their default world state has a female dalish doing the Ultimate Sacrifice: she knew! She knew what was to come and didn't want to be forced to appear in a sequel bare footed, so she decided to go out in a blaze of glory while still looking fashionable with her boots! :bandit:

Dalish footwear is modeled as bare feet?

You mean like those weird toeshoes?

I guess that explains why elfs are barefeet, if I were one with nature I'd choose barefeet over toeshoes any day.

If they are going to be barefoot, I know who I'm basing my Dalish Rogue on:

If Leliana were to see these shoes she would have an heart attack! Is there someone who actually wears these...things?

It's worth noting the bald elf in the trailer is wearing shoes.

He is not Dalish as far as we know.

I thought the shoeless thing was a universal design for all elves in the previous game.
