Hi, everyone!

Just brushed off my account here, and I figured I'd do the social (unofficially!) thing and say hi! I'm looking forward to seeing how our new forums shape up, and I hope I get to contribute now & then.

For now, I leave you with a website about the underground system below my home city, because it is a pretty effing cool thing.

Hello Ann and everyone!

The underground in Montreal is nice, I need to visit your city more often. Also hi from Edmonton! We don't *really* have an underground, but the LRT goes underground in a couple spots. So there!

Hi Ajensis!

I don't mind at all. I'm a writer with the BWM studio. And actually, I guess I could go put that in my signature and put the thing to good use, eh.  =)

(Hi Jos! Hi David! ^_^)

And here I was expecting to see pictures of a subway/metro/whatever they call it in Canada.

Metro! And "métro" in French, so we're pretty consistent on that one here. =)

We actually have an underground city (the shopping centers & main metro stations downtown are linked underground in various groups), then the metro, and the actual sewer system underground to finish it off.

And in general, thanks for the kind comments on the Chasing Atlantis video! (I'm consolidating here to let the Twitter thread stay on topic.)

I'm pretty petrified during interviews usually, but the Chasing Atlantis crew were fabulous, and I got to talk about science fiction and my love of Star Trek which did a lot towards putting me at ease.  :D

Do you have something similiar to the 'Go' train that Toronto has? I only ask since the last time I was in Montreal was 1978 for a friends wedding.

I believe the commuter train network is along those lines.

Hey Ann (and crew!) great to see some new life here!

Here in Portland Oregon (I guess "Portlandia" to the rest of the world these days) (...)

Aaand I'm derailing this topic somewhat to express all my envy at your being in Portland, because that means you can go to Greg Rucka's launch for Lady Sabre & the Pirates of the Ineffable Aether (shut up auto-correct, that IS how they spell it!). SO much envy!

And speaking of coming thaw, two day snowstorm ongoing at the moment, wooo!

Cool. Thanks for the reply.

Wow, actually I looked them up and they're not quite the same.

The GO system seems to be mainly above ground and a bit more... furnished? (Their trains have bathrooms. Woah.)

We have an underground system (seating only) and an above ground system for the off island areas and places further off). The underground one is not as fancy as the newer trains on our above ground system, etc. But... no bathrooms. (And Via Rail is everywhere, like Amtrak in the US, and is a separate entity.)

Yeah, research nerd. Occupational hazard.
