How would you react if I told you that I am not really pro-templar, I sided with the mages in DA2Evidently almost all of pro-templars in this forum are anti-elves. (Mostly the Dalish)
It says a lot really.
Elf inquisitior is Dalish only

I cannot really generalize as its not possible but if I had to throw a number I'd say 80% of pro Templars are anti-elf.
There are of course people who hate Dalish in general.
I'm not saying hating elves is a bad thing, I mean it kinda is but its a video game and people have their own opinions.

I really doubt that they actively condemn the dwarves who supply them with lyrium, not unless brother burkel is killed.
The view of non-Andrastians as heathens isn't dependent on the performance of certain actions, it's an issue of whether or not the people believe in the Maker; for example, Oghren is called a "cave dwelling heathen" at one point.

And the sister who gets the Chant wrong in Denerim, if the player is a dwarf and asks about dwarves pretty much calls the whole race heathens.

I've often noticed that in threads that discuss elves. It's not surprising since the Dalish are an enemy of the Chantry of Andraste and the Order of Templars.
The Dalish condemn the Chantry and the templars over starting the war with the Dales, the Chantry made the faith of the elven pantheon illegal, templars hunt down clans, mages are free in the clans, and the Dalish don't capitulate to human rule or the religious rhetoric of the Chantry.
The two are enemies. I'm curious to see how that's handled in Inquisition, with the inclusion of Seeker Cassandra, and possibly Cullen, especially given his heathen rhetoric and his view on mages.

Or the elven rebellion in Orlais.

So? Technically the Dwarves ARE heathens to the Andrastian faith.

It is also important to note that how we debate on a message board may hove no direct correlation to our in game actions and preferences. I started arguing the pro-Templar side because I felt like it would be the harder side of the debate, particularly considering DA2.
When it comes to the games themselves, I don't actually have a preference. I play as many ways as I can before I get burned out, then I generally take a six month break and play it again.
Granted , taking part in these discussions has made it more likely that I will do a pro-Templar run first, because I know we'll all be back here a month after release rehashing the topics, and I'll need new ammo.
As for the Dalish, I am not anti-Dalish. I just like them, generally, as they are, thematically. I feel like them magically getting and maintaining a homeland while surrounded by people they disdain and who would just as soon kill them as look at them, not only stretches my suspension of disbelief beyond the breaking point, but takes away a lot of what makes them interesting. I want them to be grasping at scraps, much of which is wrong, or inventing things whole cloth to maintain and develop their cultural identity, all while being unable to find a stable place in a human dominated world. It makes them, if not unique, at least in the minority of traditional depictions of elves. They've got a bit of a Battlestar Galactica feel to them, fleeing an insurmountable threat while trying to hold on to the bones of a civilization that can never be as it was. And the least interesting parts of either Galactica series was them finding Earth. Should the Dalish find a home eventually? Sure, but I hope it is a long time coming.

It's been a long time, made even longer by all the people who keep hating on them. At the very least, steps can start to be taken now.

Actually, elves don't need human assistance to get a leg up in the world. They could join the Qun, the majority of whom are non-human giants, and the Qunari are certainly capable of making the lives of Adrastian humans very, very difficult. It's not like elves have anything left to lose at this point or have any reason whatsoever to be loyal to Adrastians. If elves won't be allowed to succeed on their own, nothing says they can't join a force totally dedicated to making the humans endure having their people, culture, and religion wiped out and/or assimilated by something more powerful. Turnabout being fair play and whatnot.
So instead of having an Lands, Titles and Wealth handed to them by Humanity out of gratitude for possible service rendered you would prefer them to serve as Cogs in a military Junta?
...And people call me the elf Hater.

It hasn't been all that long for us, as observers. Two games, and three novels, none of which did much more than gloss over the Dalish condition. Though I agree that it is probably about time we got a Dalish-centric entry into the media. A novel would work better than a game, in my opinion, because it would allow a tighter focus.

A Dalish perspective?
Eh not my cup of tea but i don't see why not.
It would be...too...centralized in theme for my tastes.

It wouldn't be for everyone, but we're getting an Orlais/City Elf focused entry shortly, no reason something similar couldn't be done for the Dalish.

I meant that it's been a long time for us; five years with continuity moving at something of a snail's pace. Something Dalish-centric would be good, featuring them starting to build up their homeland.

I guess I tend to view it in terms of entries into the series rather than actual years. We have had so little interaction with 'normal' Dalish, it's hard for me to feel like they've had enough buildup that they HAVE to start making progress right now. I'd like to see more of how the average Clan exists, rather than 'Werewolf bait' and 'Sit on Sundermount and slowly die out over Ten years because Merethari can't let go'. Though, now that I say it, "can't let go" is pretty much the Dalish theme. Zathrian couldn't let go of his hate. Merethari couldn't let go of Merrill. Merrill couldn't let go of the Eluvian. The Dalish can't let go of the past.
It does seem to keep coming up.

Complaining about a 5 year wait? You south-born are certainly a summer raised lot.

I suppose not, If some fans like playing as the racist inbreds they can feel free to do so.
I prefer to see characters who at least have the decency to at least attempt civility.

Perhaps that might be addressed in the Masked Empire, if the Dalish are gathering in the Dales for the Arlathvenn?

Possible, but it seems unlikely given the City Elf focus. Personally, I'd rather the Dalish get their own entry than have them tacked onto someone else's story.

Indeed, if you are going to include them in anything at least bother making it about them, No sense nor point in rapidly switching perspectives from a known to a alien one.
