I understand they're not everyone's, but the Dalish are easily my favorite (and favorite Origin for that matter...).

When I first heard from the podcast we could play a Dalish Mage, that immediately went to the top of my list. B)

Hopefully the Dalish gathering of the clans (Arlathvhen) will have a deep plotline in the game...

A shame BioWare is implying that City Elves are not significantly different enough from another racial choice to be included. I guess they're as useless and forgettable to the development team as they are the people of Thedas.

I do think that city elves should have been the Andrastian PC race, instead of humans.

I actually prefer City Elves to Dalish but it'll be awesome nonetheless

Yeah. I'm kinda bummed because I was looking forward to playing a City Elf Rogue. Oh well, this just confirms Qunari for my first playthrough now.

The Dalish Origin as my least favourite, even given all its connections to the Plot, Merrill, the Eluvians, etc Yet this announcement, holds potential I think.

If we decided to make the elves all be city elves, then this precise argument could be used again except against the Dalish.

Dalish and city elves are different enough that one or the other had to be chosen.  In other words, a damned if you do, damned if you don't perspective.  The alternative being that no elf option exist at all....

Same for me.

So, with the Inquisition.. are they or are they not Chantry driven or of Andrastian faith, or does it not matter? Also if they, I wonder how that would play out with the Dalish?

The Inquisition is not affiliated with any group, but rather the Chantry seems to want to help as seen with Cassandra being there.

There are already tons of games with elves living in isolation with a nature-themed community. I find city elf to be a lot more refreshing.

I can't speak for all who are disappointed, but I think people were thinking it would be like Origins where it was one of each background.

Thank you :)

This was the case for me, at least.

Multiple woven threads of possibility got out of hand so the writers decided to focus on exploring the ethnic grievance angle instead

I have trouble believing any dalish whining when one of them can rise to become inquisitor

My snark aside, and I apologize for it, I am curious why it was an either/or situation. I get that there are only so many hours in a day, but City Elves are what gets cut? It seems an odd choice, from the outside.

This doesn't really bother me, I'm sure there's a good reason for the elves being Dalish only. I do find the city elves more interesting overall (my first warden was a female city elf) but my Inquisitor is is probably going to be human anyway.

This news does make me curious about what role, if any, the city elves play in the story, since they don't have an Inquisitor to represent them.

I just hope devs make elves less ugly and short, without horrible tattoos.

If the pictures that were released are anything like what we'll see in-game, I think they look great.

Tattoos will probably still be the same lol.

also they'll always be short, they're elves????

I enjoyed the City elf Origin, but if elves can only have 1 origin then Dalish would make more sense since it's  more diverse. In a way city elf is really just a castless human.

I'll admit I'm a bit ignorant about the Civil War since I haven't read Asunder or researched much about how the DA world is changing.

On the downside, my would-be Elf Inquisitor theme song doesn't really work anymore... :(

On the upside, better perspective / lore opportunities. Also, yay blood writing! \(^o^)/

There's a RWBY thread in the off topic section by the way, hahaha

Blake=Faunus=Seen as Animals by Humans

I can see that passing for a Dalish. Make it work.

I've always been meaning to check that thread out, but never did so.
