We both know why you're doing it. I don't know why you don't simply knock it off with that crap, and why you seem so insistent on turning discussions so ugly. The snide remarks aren't doing anything to bolster your statements.

As for the Dalish, I've read nothing from you so far to show that their goal is impossible or improbable.

Regarding the city elves, I hope better for them than being relegated to serving as marginalized elven foot soldiers to either faction, like Gaspard.

  Your still going on about that?

As i said earlier i agree with Blue, Bring it up via PM if you like.

The Dalish are also not on the ladder at all.

Oh, they have their own ladder in terms of social rankings.  City Elves are at the bottom on the ladder relevant to them (Andrastian nations), while casteless aren't even allowed on the dwarvern ladder unless they ****** themselves out.  On the quality of life ladder, they're probably much higher than human peasants; the hunter/gatherer lifestyle can be less stressful, and you yourself say they get more exercise and less urban diseases.

Right, but Andrastian society tends to be what we move through most often, and the Dalish aren't on that ladder. But if you just mean horribly disadvantaged people, then all right.

Things will be so much easier once the plague that is the Dalish has been eradicated

And I'm talking a full on cultural annihilation, not just military defeat

Oh, you. Hey, actually, which would prefer if you had to choose, Steel? City or Dalish.

City, they at least have the decency to try and assimilate

Also the City Elf origin was pretty kick ass

Why's that?

The city elves just seem... nicer? It's more-so that I get frustrated because I always try (and wind up actually doing it) to help them, but they make it so hard to. I 110% understand why they would be wary, but when I consistently prove myself and my motives, why continue to strike me down? Like with Master Ilen, he's a jerk no matter what. I tried to be diplomatic with him, and then after that, I was aggressive. Either way I couldn't win. It's like everything I do, I insult them. Also, as a city elf, in DA:O, they still persecute you.

That's my only qualm with them. I loves elves and I'll always pick them/side with them, but the Dalish can be difficult. The Keeper is wonderful in DA2, though, I loved her.

Why's that?

Because they are racist, arrogant, hollier than thou, wannabe-master race, good for nothing, poaching, vagrants?

How's this different from not having noble and commoner options for dwarves/humans, or not having the option to be part of the Qun? It's lame, but understandable, and we'll

Personally, I don't like the dalish. They don't fit into Thedas. I felt like the motivation to be a warden was lowest to the dalish, and they're even more isolationist than the dwarves. They have no reason to be civil with any other race, and playing one requires me to ignore my own origin, for the sake of gameplay. I would much, much rather play a city elf.

That said, the devs have a limited budget. They can only make so many origins. I'd rather have a subset of possible origins each game, done well, than every origin in every game, but low quality.

He actually reacts best if you're humorous/charming. Admittedly, though, the Dalish in DA2 are... well, to be frank, sort of terrible compared to the same clan in DAO, and Zathrian's clan as well.

I asked what was wrong with the Dalish, not Orlais.

More seriously, Andrastian societies have the first three down to a science, come extremely close to the fourth (at least as much as the Dalish do if not more)... the fifth is blatantly wrong, given their service in the Grey Wardens among much else (including, I think, Garahel), and the last two are just quibbles about non-agricultural lifestyles.

Really? The one time I played as Charming Hawke, I didn't do that quest lol, I'll have to go back and see because I'd love for a better response :)

Zathrian's clan wasn't as bad, but the storyteller got on my nerves.

His demeanor will still be gruff, but he'll acknowledge that response better than the other two.

Do you think there's a reason the Dalish in DA2 are a bit more.. hostile? (disregarding the Merrill thing

Also, do you think our Dalish Inquisitors personality will match the elves of previous clans we've seen?

Well different dalish elves had very different personalities, and a Dalish Warden could (usually) react any number of ways to outsiders. The Priest giving blessings at the camp in Ostagar is a character I remember multiple different Dalish centric responses of varying levels of hostility or politeness.

Their halla are dead and they're stranded on a demon-infested mountain within a wider swathe of cursed land, so they've clearly grown more paranoid.

As for our Inquisitor... well, we should be able to shape her, but the baseline might be similar, yes. Albeit from a Dalish point of view, so probably similar-ish to the PC origin from DAO.

Lol, good point Xil. There's always *that*.

I hope so, I don't want her to be too jerkish to humans, of course some deserve it!

That's right, it's been quite some time since I played as Dalish - I forgot about that.

I'm just glad we can be a Dalish Mage, because as a Rogue/Warrior, I never got through a single origin as a DE. I finished it 2 years after I got the game just to get the achievement.

Sarel? His wife was murdered by werewolves; that's why he was so hostile to everyone.

The Sabrae clan don't outright murder the templars who tortured their da'len hunter or the Andrastians who are threatening them to convert to the Andrastian faith, so I don't think they're that bad.

Nothing delusional about dreaming, but ultimately that is just a dream, they are too few, have too much near universal dislike to ever amount to anything with out Human assistance, Hence why i'd say the Valley of the Flowers is about the best the Elves can expect, still a Kingdom is a kingdom, vassal or no.

Actually, elves don't need human assistance to get a leg up in the world.  They could join the Qun, the majority of whom are non-human giants, and the Qunari are certainly capable of making the lives of Adrastian humans very, very difficult.  It's not like elves have anything left to lose at this point or have any reason whatsoever to be loyal to Adrastians.  If elves won't be allowed to succeed on their own, nothing says they can't join a force totally dedicated to making the humans endure having their people, culture, and religion wiped out and/or assimilated by something more powerful.  Turnabout being fair play and whatnot.

I didn't remember that, sorry! It's been a while since I've played Origins.

Do you know or have an idea why the Ferelden clan were so abrupt even with a city elf Warden?

I don't mind. If a City Elf was the Inquisitor, all we'd really ultimately have is an inquisitor barely any different from a human one save for the pointy ears and the racism they'd endure. As a Dalish, they may offer a new cultural viewpoint a human inquisitor lacks.

That, and it probably is easier on the voice actors to only do one set of voice-overs for the elven inquisitor. Less chances of bugs of having a city elf say 'by the creators' or something.
