Yes most probably but a PC upgrade would still be quiet nice ;)

@Allan Schumacher

Is it okay to ask if we are going to be okay with 4GBs of RAM or if it's better to upgrade to 8GBs for Inquisition? Obviously the more RAM the better, but I'm wondering if the game will still function alright without having major lag etc if we only meet the minimum requirements for it. Doing the upgrade is not extremely expensive (40something dollars for 4GBs) so I'd like to know if I should start looking into it more. The game looks so good that I don't feel as confident in my computer's strength, hahah

Your system RAM isn't going to be the deciding factor, it's your graphics card. I still have only 4 GB RAM on my system and have had absolutely no problems running any PC game so far(games like Assassin's Creed 4). The VRAM on your graphics card and the power of it's graphics processor will be the ones mostly used when you're running the game. A lot of people(mostly console users) believe the entire PC needs to be upgraded all the time, which isn't true. At best, you will need to swap out your current PSU with a better one to accommodate for the new card, if you get one.

I'd say 2 GB to 3 GB RAM on your graphics card should more than suffice, as long as it has a decent processor.

But doesn't RAM affect how long it takes to load the game, etc? Graphics quality doesn't concern me as much, it's the computer running smoothly with no lag etc while playing.

Here's a video about how RAM upgrades affect your system's gaming performance. Link.

What happens is before any program runs it is stored in your main memory. From the main memory the CPU is able to process what that program should do. Same situation when you are gaming. All the non graphical game data will be stored in your RAM but your textures and graphical data will be stored in your VRAM.

It's funny. I was typing something similar to what Baron said and I had a power cut. Anyway, pretty much what Baron said. If you're that worried about your RAM, get another 4 GB stick and put it into your motherboard, you won't need to think about it for a long while. Again, it's your graphics card that should be a priority here.

DA:I is clearly a labor of love and I could not be more excited. It's amazing to get such a sense of the world, the plants, the animals, the ecology, it really comes alive and becomes real. I'm convinced this game is gonna be insanely awesome. I've already warned my husband and friends that I will be on "vacation" this Fall. :D

I'm a bit worried about my computer power as well (a lap top) and I was considering upgrading but I don't really know what's important for gaming computer. Well people have said RAM is important but others say it's not as important as the graphics card - but how do you tell if a graphics card is good or not?

Anyway, I really liked the environments they showed us but I'd like to see some cities as well. The Ball scene was exciting but I want it  to have a little more people than it does in the trailer. The fade... the fade is perfect. The atmosphere, the stone hanging in the air... I loved it all and I can't wait to go there!

I thought I was seeing pictures of Skyrim, which is a good thing. Moving in the right direction on this one, Bioware.

Looks totally awesome. Hope there is pre-order soon. The male voice sounds like he speaks with authority and people will listen as he talks. Also seems to have a charning voice to. I hope will get to hear the females voice also soon. As I always play a female character 99% of the time.

Just do a little investigating about your video card, there's comparisons and charts all over the place. I like Tom's Hardware. What kind of card do you have? Also, if you have a laptop, upgrading is more problematic than with a desktop.

Yeah, but graphics cards are way more expensive and I definitely don't have the money to spare :(. I have a Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, which is apparently mediocre now (it could run AC 4 fine, but with graphic glitches). So I was trying to see if I could improve my experience without having to spend a lot of money :(

Another question about Ram. How come the recommended system specs for the newest games say 8GB+ of RAM if it doesn't make a difference?

Wow Bioware really outdid themselves on this one, This surpasses even the mass effect environments in my opinion, I think I will be walking everywhere like I did in skyrim.

Also: Actual giants, ^.^

I have a NVIDIA GTX560M according to a sticker on my laptop. I wouldn't know how to upgrade a stationary computer even if I had one so I'm thinking about buying a new computer.

I'm a bit worried about my computer power as well (a lap top) and I was considering upgrading but I don't really know what's important for gaming computer. Well people have said RAM is important but others say it's not as important as the graphics card - but how do you tell if a graphics card is good or not?

A graphics card is basically nothing more than a processor + RAM. You can tell how good a processor is based on its clock speed(key word) and the number of cores it has, and RAM with its memory speed(like 4 GB, 8GB etc etc, another key word) and its clock speed(yes RAM also has a clock speed). So take a look at the specifications and you can see the clock speeds, the RAM size etc.

So coming back to a graphics card, the RAM on the card(which is referred to as VRAM or Video RAM) determines how much data the GPU(the processor in the card) can store on it. Like you can get a 2 GB GDDR5 graphics card which has a processor clock speed of 1020 MHZ. The 2 GB GDDR5 refers to the RAM in the graphics card(and GDDR5 is the best one you can get right now and exists on any good card), which has 2 GB of space(which is, like I stated in my previous post, more than enough to run all the games you see these days). The 1020 MHZ refers to the processor clock speed(midium end cards are usually found with processor clock speeds around 800 MHZ). Obviously, the higher it is, the better. If you compare multiple cards, you will notice how the cost jumps from one card to another when the clock speed difference is only around 100 to 200 MHZ, but not much when it comes to the RAM of the card(a 2 GB card is usually very slightly pricey than the same card with 1 GB RAM). You can learn a lot about PC hardware by just visiting an online store and comparing different hardware with their specifications.

Having said all that, if are seriously considering upgrading to a good PC, you can always message me for help(or maybe post a thread here so others can also help you). I will be more than glad to walk you through picking the best graphics card/RAM/or anything else for that matter(I've had people help me out when I didn't know crap), so don't hesitate. PCs with good hardware have become so cheap these days that it will make you think on why you even need a console, since they are more accessible. Still, there is that "I don't want to deal with all the software and hardware crap" advantage to consoles, I suppose. Also, as a side note, don't even think of getting a laptop for gaming, not worth it.

Another question about Ram. How come the recommended system specs for the newest games say 8GB+ of RAM if it doesn't make a difference?

Actually, you can get really good graphics cards these days under 200$, don't know if that's too costly for you. In the end, it's all about how far you're going to push the card. For example, if you're not going to connect your PC to your 40'' HD TV or something and play games at 1080P, and you just have a 20+'' monitor, you can get a card around 150$ that is able to play a game at fairly high settings.

As for your question, I never said it doesn't make a difference. I said not by much. And also that's recommended specs, not the minimum requirement(which is usually 4 GB RAM).

Yeah, unfortunately 200 is a bit much for me right now :(. I guess I'll see how it'll handle inquisition and see from there.

Well, the game still has 6+ months to be released so I say there's plenty of time to save up money for a good graphics card, and most likely you'll get an even better card for the same price than what you might get now.

I unfortunately don't have the power to 'save up money' either, hahah. Thank you for the advice though :)

Looks like there will be a myriad of different environments in the game. The fact that Skyrim-ish (I suppose the comparison stems from realism of the graphics since such environments exist ubiquitously in real life) portions are just only a small part of the explorable regions just makes me really excited for the game. I can already imagine walking through photo-realistic dense forests with my companions while the party banter starts and birds scatter with apprehension. To be honest, the gameplay in the PAX demo had me already pretty pumped up. The feeling of getting hyped up for a game this early is a new experience for me and it sucks.

DA2 lacked the level of detail I prefer, but it looks like PERHAPS Inquisition will bring it back.

I have a 6 core Processor, 16 gigs of Ram, and a Radeon 6770 card. I can play Battlefield on medium settings and it looks fantastic. I figure if I can play that I will be able to play Inquisition. B)

I'm sure you can. I myself owned a 6850 HD which I bought two years ago. I sent it for repair a couple of weeks ago, and now it is being replaced with a 7850 HD for free, which is AMD Mantle capable.  B)
