Gwaren is the closest large city to the Brecillian forest.

Yes, but its on the far side of the Brecillian forest from the rest of Ferelden as I recall. Frankly, I don't understand how a city of any size could develop in such a location. I mean, the only way to get there is either by ship or a lengthy trip through the wilderness (Or the Deep Roads). Its too far from Orzammar to have been a trading post with the dwarves within the last thousand years, its closest neighbors are the Chasind in the adjacent Kocari Wilds unless any Dalish happen to be camped in the Brecillian, and it takes such a roundabout trip to get there from anywhere else that I'm shocked its one of Ferelden's major ports. In real history terms, the medieval equivalent would be Iceland, or to a greater extreme Greenland. Its logically the last stop on any trading ships journey and only a handful could possibly have thought it was worth it.

...Oh, did you mean the Inquisitor might have a reason to visit the Brecillian? I suppose that might work if those old ruins have anything useful.

Yeah, I noticed that the archer's movements were kinda weird with the jerking, but I'll give it a pass because pre-alpha.

I noticed that too. Actually the rain in that shot was a bit weird as well, but considering this is 6+ months out from release? I'm not terribly concerned by it.

Well yeah, you can tell it still needs work. The jerky movements of the archer, the running animations later on, the way the bubbles came up mostly in sync with one another, etc etc

The thing is, they have time.

Gwaren is supposedly built on top of the south-eastern-most Dwarven Thaig, so it's not really that surprising. At the seaside, shielded by a forest with a Dwarven fortress underground as allies.

Given that it's cross platform, I doubt we'll be seeing Division or Witcher 3 visuals. I'm sure a mid range card will be plenty for DA:I.

It's cross platform but it's being optimized individually for every console, not to mention PC is what it's being developed on(as we've seen in some showcase videos of DA:I development). The game goes from PC to consoles, and PC will also have the full blast of all of the effects in the game. Some of them will be dumbed down on PS4 and X1, and even more on PS3 and X360. There's also the fact that they've yet to fully utilize Frostbite to render the game(which was not the case in the videos we saw so far), which is going to happen after the game is out of Pre-Alpha, so don't count Inquisition out yet.

Regardless, I don't disagree that a medium end card will be able to run Inquisition, it's just that it would be a waste not to play the game on full or near-full settings, given how detailed it's going to be. That's how I feel anyway.

If all else fails, at least they're getting the environments done well.

Took the words out of my mouth. Some of it falls in the general fantasy stuff, but I'm loving the more otherworldly settings that start 41 seconds in. Has a style that feels somewhere between Burning Crusade and Planescape: Torment. Particle effects, water effects, and the secondary stuff are unbelievable. Nice fog effects at 1:21. The whole architecture in 1:31 gives me warm feelings of walking into Stormwind for the first time.

Dammit all BioWare, stop giving me reasons to buy your games. That's like super mean, and stuff.

That´s the problem with realistic graphic. The uncanny valley.

Everything is getting so perfect that every single small deviation from reality causes revulsion.

I remember the time I played Oblivion and was all Boah-so-much-wow... Then I got Vampires the Masquerade and was So-beautifull-will-never-be-better.

Later I played ME1 and imagine Shepard had irises! Boaah!

Then Skyrim an Witcher 2 happened, and now everything is "Those bubbles are in sync!"

The nature of art styles. Thats why Tallis' appearance throws so many people off. Hers was based on a real person(the lovely Felicia Day) while everyone around her is built differently, it seems. That and Felicia's face is recognizable, so it just looked so oooooff. That and it was ruined with DA2 Elf syndrome.

Hopefully that problem doesn't exist this time.

I actually find that characters who have their face based off real people, such as Tallis and Miranda, often have blurred facial features, which look worse (IMO) than the clear-cut features of characters made in the CC. I assume it has something to do with the way they import the faces into the game.

Well, I don't know how they made Vivienne's face but it looks pretty good in my opinion. I think I'm more critical of Varric and Morrigan since they are pre-existing characters.

The Witcher 3 looks leagues better, but these were still some solid graphics. I hope the story holds up.

I believe The Witcher 3 is farther along in dev, isn't it? Regardless, different engine, different focus. I don't think anyone will doubt that graphically, The Witcher 3 will be superior. Whether its aesthetics appeal to someone though is up to them.

I unfortunately don't have the power to 'save up money' either, hahah. Thank you for the advice though :)

If you can manage to set aside $1 a day until Inquisition's release, (using the 6+ month hypothesis as a metric) then you will have saved at least $180, if not more, by then. So it's a lot more manageable than one might think. It's all about being prudent and knowledgeable about one's spending habits and earning potential, and trimming the fat in areas one doesn't necessarily need to be spending on. Food is a good example. If you can find a way to spend $1 less on food per day, then your golden.

Thats because TW3 is next gen and PC only where as DAI is crossgen and its graphics potential hindered by 8 year old hardware.

What I meant was that any money I personally 'save', is money that should always go straight to other necessities (like bills and debt). I wouldn't have money to spare even if I did save up some money by cutting back on what I spend on even more, unfortunately. Conclusion: being poor is hard, hahah. Buying Inquisition will probably be the most expensive thing I'll allow myself to get this year (since I want to buy the collector's edition if it has cool extra goodies). But it's worth it :3. Thank you for the advice though!

Yeah, living in deficit can be a real [word redacted due to unparalleled levels of obscenity B) ). If I don't find a more permanent job to turn things around, that's going to be my future, too. Medical bills are eating up what little I have saved away. Stupid surgery. I'm excited for Inquisition, so I hope I can turn things around by then. I hope you do, too!

Witcher 3 looks nice in that trailer but trust me, it's not going to look that good on PS4 and XONE. I think people will see the most difference between DA's and Witcher's graphics on the PC. I won't be surprised if the graphics on the console versions of both the games turn out to be very similar.

I'm no tech guy but Quantum Break and The Order look just as good if not better than the Witcher 3.

Depends, are we talking graphically or aesthetically? Cause a lot of times, folks get the two twisted and confused. Not everyone, but enough that I feel like asking anyway, just to be safe.

Excuse me while I'll go in a corner and weep because we're not Fall 2014 yet.

I was wondering that, too, because I've never been aesthetically allured to Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or the Witcher like I have been with Dragon Age (mostly due to Matt Rhodes and the rest of their amazing concept art team, I think), especially what we've seen so far of Inquisition. I remember when "everyone" was raving about Tomb Raider's graphics, and I'm just starting to play it now, and I don't really find it impressive. The models and textures for the most part are fine and of good quality, but the lighting/shading's terrible, which for me is one of the more important parts of graphics quality and allure. To each their own.

Aren't they exclusive games? The developers focus all of their work on only one particular console, not to mention Witcher 3 had pretty impressive realistic looking effects going on in the trailer.

In any case, I just heard Witcher 3 is going to be delayed to February 2015.  :(

I bet that has Bioware thrilled if they can keep the fall 2014 date they now have less competition for the typical RPGS game buyer. They also don't have to share the media attention.
