Gotta admit, the game world looks solid. I'm diggin it. If all else fails, at least they're getting the environments done well.

I showed my dad the trailer yesterday, basically to quell my hype problem, and he was in awe. He then said (which was the same thing I said when I first saw it) "I can't believe I played video games back when they were only 8-bit with a joystick, and now they look like you could step right in them. I'm amazed how far they've gone." He then added "Are you sure that's a video game?" ![]()

Makes me wonder what games will look like in the next 10 years ![]()
and also if we'll ever get true VR games, like how SAO portrays it, only i'd prefer without the risk of death

Yup, I'm about to turn 30 and I've been a gamer since the age of 4....it's scary and brilliant how games went from Atari to Xbox One and PS4 in only 26 years...I feel bad for the kids who never experienced having to blow into a cartridge to make it work or had to play games without being able to save, they're so jaded by the ease of playing game without fear that they might have to turn off the game to eat dinner when they were thisclose to beating the game and can't save. Ah, the advent of the passcode was a great thing. ![]()

My gaming life started on the Sega Mega Drive
, then eventually moved on from there to a Playstation, then PS2, Dreamcast, Gamecube, then 360 then PS3 xD with a bit of PC gaming gradually throughout it all

Well, I am turning 19 in June, my first console was a PS3 and before that I gamed on the PC, though I have experienced the problems of blowing into cartridges with a Nintendo Gameboy Advance. Also, not being able to save was a problem I had with some of those games as well, but that was mostly because my aunt, who lived abroad at the time, brought loads of games with her that.... weren't exactly the real deal. I played a Tarzan game fully in French, for example, and experienced Zelda: A Link to the Past with a broken saving system.
I'm mostly curious about where gaming will bring us next. A question being: will we ever go full VR like you now see in cartoons or sci-fi movies?

^Playing Tarzan in French reminds me of when my dad bought a Dragon Ball Z game that was entirely in, well I think I remember it being Chinese, and neither of us could figure it out.
You're older than the age of what I meant by my comment. I meant more like my (now) 8 yr old cousin who was horrified by how archaic my Sega Genesis system was compared to his dad's PS3....when I blew in the cartridge for Sonic, the conversation pretty much went like this: Him:"what are you doing?!?" Me: Trying to get the game to work" Him: "Why isn't it a CD?" Me: "This is an old game" Him: "Why are we playing it if it doesn't work?" Me: "It will" Him: "Well, let me know" *sits on a chair and turns on his DS and begins to play Lego Batman* Me: *sigh* (he was about 6 at the time)

Not sure if this is the right post for it, but I noticed a set of new screenshots on IGN about DAI. Two showing a dragon, a few displaying Varric, and the unidentified mage. Possibly on other sites too.

That sounds just like my cousin. I remember the days of the atari and sega genesis. So many hundreds of hours playing sonic and knuckles! I also had a Nomad, my only hand held device ever. I used those things even when I had an N64 and a PS2. Good times.

I think there's just an innate urge in some hearts to see the world as a string of contests. Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are competing high-budget fantasy RPGs and up until TW3's recent delay news they would have competed quite literally for consumer wallets this holiday season. Some people just like a fight and stir up those pots. Others are simply voicing concerns against one in favor of the other because they don't want to purchase both.
In any case, I'll always agree on the "does it make that much of a difference?" part, forsooth.
A fair point. Always a good thing to at least know that there are alternatives these days since a good RPG seems rarer and rarer.

Yeah, my faves were Golden Axe and Streets of Rage....looking back now, I can't believe they used to amaze me with their graphics, games coming out now make my jaw drop. That being said, after DA2 being set mostly in a city, it's odd that I really hope we get to go to Val Royeaux, I've been trying to picture it in my head since Leliana described it in DAO. I know it will look amazing if the last video's graphics are anything to go by.

The world looks awesome. The quality of the rendering looks outstanding. Especially loved the look of the thaig can't wait to visit it.
I must say I really love games where the environment is that huge and diverse that you can get lost for a couple of hours just exploring for exploring sake. This game looks to have that in spades, if they can marry that with great story telling and a plot that pulls you in then I really can't wait for release date.
