Just saying, the things we've seen can do with far less spikes. Gets corny after a while.

I don't mind spikes, but do they have to be that large? I mean come on.

Well

I think we saw something like this pretty early in the early publicity screenshots back in 2013. It's commendable that BioWare tried to avoid the standard pseudo-medieval style of castle, and I like some of the basic look here, but it's really 'off' somehow, and not just because of the spikes.

It's also little things like overly large and oddly placed statues and the partially 'cleanly' ruined tower immediately next to a fully intact piece of wall.

You're critiquing the fortress?! What did it ever do to you?

In a weird way, the spikes actually reduce the imposing scale of the structure.

I agree. They look out of place to me.

Maybe if a dragon throws itself at the rocks the spikes will be a tactical advantage

Speaking for myself, I don’t think the fortress by itself is all that imposing, although it doesn’t feel underwhelming either. It’s about right for a medium-sized fortress in the desert, I suppose.

It could be they felt they needed the spikes to make it stand out more, but it comes across as weird, marring the look of a perfectly fine ‘normal’ desert fortress. It would have been different if it had been an odd, spiky fortress from the ground up, like a miniature Barad-dûr with a dose of ‘extra prickly’. Some way of fundamentally signalling ‘not intended for human enemies’.

As it is, I am sort of reminded of kids’ attempts (including my own in my distant, misspent youth) of making things ‘cooler’ by adding all kinds of stuff. Which is a pity, as I think the basic style of the fortress is quite alright and not typical fantasy standard.

Interesting. Almost reminiscent of Beauty and the beast's Castle. Beautiful environment, although a little over the top.

I thought the same thing. Looks like ballroom in the Be Our Guest restaurant at Disney.

I hope we can partake in the dancing!

Sword fighting and dancing - kind of the same thing. Syrio Forel would be pleased.

You must be by DL? I've had 3 months or so to swallow the price increase at WDW.

Beers on me *cheers*
