Yeah, I read that. Just wondering why it looks so disheveled.

Makes me want to know how the lighting interacts inside the building do the candles flicker or will the lighting be constant.

Everything I see about this game has made me happy that I pre-ordered. I hope they do a video of the new locations. That way we can see the lighting machanics in action.

It used to be a training ground for the Seekers.
Looks like it's been turned into a cultist den, though. Note the statue in the corner. There's probably all kinds of unwholesome things going on, and acts unspeakable. Including the obligatory mad dancing, singing and sacrifices.

Yup, no cities in DA:I, semi-confirmed
.
But we do get fortresses with market stalls
.
Cities will have to wait for Dragon Age: Urbanisation.
P.S. Those dog statues look cute.

Still the same spike-y jagged-y style from DA 2 huh? Sigh...

A bit of speculation on my part, but...

These locations look vaguely similar to each other. Look at the candle motifs, and the windows and the rosette. And there's this too:

This location is both creepy and awesome. I do really hope we can tidy the place up a bit though. Those bloody eye symbol things are really disturbing.
Anyways, folks have been speculating that Therinfal Redoubt is somewhere in the Tirashan Forest, but the architecture looks pretty Fereldan to me.

To be honest, the last pictures had no spikes, unless you mean the spiked collars on the stylized dog statues. Those are of decently executed pseudo-medieval architecture, nothing wrong with it.

Yeah I was talking about the dog statues, and then just the overall look of a lot of structures I've seen so far. It's like they're made out of lego or something, I can't describe it. Always block-y, nothing that looks pronounced, even random stones in the open world look like cleanly cut cubes and cuboids.
Then there's the distracting aluminum foil shine to the metal parts of armour and weapons. And don't forget the spikes, god damn that stupid uninspiring crap that keeps coming back to make weapons and buildings look like they're from the Stone Age. I just got tired of this style in DA 2 and I was disappointed to see it now in Inquisition.
Fade seems to be the only place that looks interesting and new, and that's not saying much.

Could be, but my impression so far is that there are two architectural styles 'Standard pseudo-medieval' and Ferelden (somewhat similar, but with some Fereldenesque / vaguely early medieval northern European flourishes), that look a lot like each other. I would also be careful with those earlier PR pictures, they may be of prototypes or compositions made for PR. For instance, take a good look at gate in the bottom right picture. See what's wrong with it?

I get what you mean about "blocky". However, I'd expect some more polish before the game ships. I'm not quite sure what you mean about spikes though. Also, we don't know if those are in fact "random" blocks of stone in the wilds.

I don't know, it's the combination of wood-and-stone structure plus the Mabari statues that screams Fereldan to me. I don't think the other nations in Thedas use Mabari statues for decoration.
I'm not saying that these are the same location. Only that they look similar and could be related.

Look at the screenshots in the previous page. The weapons being held by the statues, the claw like things jutting out from parts of the temple(?) and the Grey Wardens' base. There's also that damn lego like towers. It's as if the artists just can't think of creating stuff outside that look. "Hey give me a bunch of stone arrow heads and I'll make a weapon out of it" or "Hey, wanna build structures with just stone blocks?". Ugh...
Just read some posts from the previous pages, looks like I'm not the only one who noticed this crap. And I know the game will look better once it gets some polish, but the problem isn't just that. It's the "hexagon" art style mostly.

I thought the dog statues in this pic are supposed to look crude and blocky. I mean, Ferelden doesn't exactly have a reputation for finery and artisans the way Orlais does, right? Doesn't it make sense that the architecture/decorations aren't refined and polished to fit the unrefined/backwater country image that Ferelden has?
I'm not overly fond of the "let's put spikes on everything" design DA2 had either, so I hope there is less of it in the game than there appears to be.
