IMO, I feel like there is at least one more female coming our way who has yet to be leaked. A party of nine with six men doesn't really seem to fit the Dragon Age rations, which were usually only one off in favor of men - 4/4 ratio without dog (who you could name whatever and pretend was any gender) from DAO, and 5/4 with Sebastian for DA2. What her class will be, we don't really know as there is one female in each class as it stands. I feel like she'd be another rogue or mage, though they could surprise us and give us another female warrior.

My opinion is the same as ever (and just an opinion) 

 

Varric, Cass ,Viv: ofc

Grey warden, blonde elf, Bald elf: at least semi confirmed by in game footage.

Iron Bull/Qunari: Survey, Concepts, the trailer, that in game picture of him: We know it's not an inquisitor because they hadn't decided on Qunari yet, he could be just an npc I guess but I thin him being a companion is very likely. 

 

So that leaves 2. 

 

I think Cullen is possible but I am really unsure: Survey, Concept Art, his VA confirming that he is at least in the game. 

I think Dorian has been basically scrapped: Just cause we know some of the survey characters have been. 

I also think Cole is no longer a companion: We have seen and heard nothing about him since the survey and 

I think Lelianna will be an NPC

I think scribe girl will be an NPC

The companion from Asunder rumor is false, it was never confirmed that there would be one it was just hinted that someone from asunder may be in the game. 

As for the mustache guy I have no idea, there are lots of theories about him but remember not everyone in the war room is a companion.

 

So my final two are Cullen and an Unknown (hopefully a female). I guess there could also be a DLC character.

I think the returning character  from Asunder could be Adrian, since Vivienne seems to be the pro-order(versus Chaotic) -pro-circle type of mage and, Mr. Baldy, with his hermit look, doesn't seems to be the type of guy who would care about the all "templars vs mages" thing. I mean, there sould be a mage who propose the alternative here, no? Someone who would incarnate the other pole of what Vivienne fights for?

-Vivienne : pro status quo, order
-Baldy = neutral (on that matter, probably more implicated in others problems like the elfs rebelion or something totaly different)
-An other mage : pro freedom for the mage. Perso I would prefer someone else than Adrian but I have to admit, she could be an intersting option if she is not acting too crazy/stupid and cliché.

Nobody ever said that a character from asunder would be a companion. I know this coz I thought Gaider said that until he himself corrected me. 

Someone on one of the panels mentioned that someone from asunder might be in the game and Cole was in the survey leak wich lead to this asunder companion rumor.

Now that you mention it, I think I have read that information somewhere before, but what I suggested is still possible, no?
Perhaps there will be no need for a rebellious mage companion afterall, if Vivienne happens to be more open and influenceable about that suject, who knows, I wonder on which criteria it will be possible to friend/rival her.

Oh um It's certainly possible it's just people think Bioware confirmed or hinted at one of them being from asunder. Other than Cole being in the survey we have nothing that suggest that this will be the case. 

 

As for mages and their opinions well I dunno both the mages in DA2 were rebellious so I am not sure if we can assume that much balance either.

The Confirmed three are

The "We've seen 'em" three are

the other three are more murky but I'm pulling for

Cole(the Phantom Rouge), Epic Mustache guy(I hope he's a mage), and a female Warrior.

I don't think the elf is Dorian.  There's the "conflation of conflation" comment to support that.

In all likely hood,

 

a bunch of walking one dimensional tropes whose fanbase will largely be determined on how much a stooge/direct opposite to the protagonist they serve, and whether they are bangable or not

If it fits the context, the main story, then it's balanced. In DA2, Fenris was there for that purpose, no need for him to be a mage. Every game is different. I think personnaly that it's more likely to meet mages who favorise reasonable freedom for themselves (and their brethren) than the contrary. Thought, I suppose Vivienne is a particular case because, if my hunch is right, she cares about her brethren but she's also fond of the position of power she should have occupied if the mages hadn't rebelled. Also, it's different to have an opinion on a particular subject (=Merrill), and act on this opinion (=Anders). The freedom for the mages of the Circle wasn't a priority for Merril, but the pro-status-quo-Circle stance could be a priority for Vivienne. --> my question/guess

The comment was more to all the people who were agreeing and adding the   emoticon. 

 

But yeah, I like Rhys with Evangeline as well. Though if he was made a romance option, she had better be one too.

I agree, and if he was ever in the game it would only be right for her to be in it as well. I'd love to have them both as companions, the banter would great. Even though Fenris and Bela were "together" they weren't... really "together", you know? So I'd enjoy having a couple as companions And who better than the badass Templar Evangeline and Senior Enchanter Rhys. I think I like her more than him, honestly.

Of the two, I can say that Evangeline is my favorite as well.

Not a fan of Anders, myself, but I wouldn't mind him showing up for imports where he's still alive- in fact I think it would be disappointing if he didn't show up in those imports.

 

But I certainly would not want to see him as a companion. Didn't want him as a companion in DAII, either. I have this thing where I want the Warden's team to be the Warden's team, Hawke's team to be Hawke's team, and the Inquisitor's team to be the Inquisitor's team, with as little overlap as possible.

 

Really? I always thought he was great. Just because he was a healer and he had this weird sense of humor that actually made me laugh sometimes. I think just importing your character from DA2, and if you allowed him to live, it'd be awesome if he at least had an appearance and possibly have the choice to have him in your team again.

 

Just my opinion, I did love his character after all.
